You're lucky.
If you don't know how to overclock properly...they shouldn't be on the hook..no different then here

Scare tactics! Out of all the people that have chose to tune, a select few have had a problem. Then they send out the TSB, and everyone is acting like they are gonna have a blown motor if they tune their car! If 15 random mustangs out of 5000 were going to have some sort of problem during it's life, would you have thought twice about purchasing your current mustang. I know that problems from ford and problems from aftermarket are totally different subjects but I hope you get my point. I have been doing research on tunes for my own Stang and a lot of the tunes have made it thousands of miles without a even as much of a sputter. Personally I'm not fearful that the aftermarket doesn't offer a warranty. Why would they? All the TSB talk will blow over just like everything else. By that time most people are going to be over the warranty miles anyways. I have faith in my mustang and so do many of my 11 5.0 owning friends, yes I have been fortunate and haven't had any problems but tomorrows another day. I'll cross the "warranty claim" bridge when I get there. Ford is just trying to cover their rear, like any other big money company would do. Modding is a gamble. Good luck to whoever decides to mod! Just my 2 cents!!!

Yes it is. 3yr/36k is the bumper to bumper.

That's what I thought . . . so if you want to wait till your motor/trans warranty was up it would be 5/60 not 3/36. I know I'm not touching mine until my full warranty is up. One because the car is fast enough to get me into plenty of trouble as is and two #8 and M82 "concerns".

If you want to play, be prepared to pay or wait until the warranty expires. By then the engine should be well broken in and any weakness in build quality should have surfaced, and been repaired. Quite honestly, if you are not racing this car, I am at a loss to understand why you would want more power for simple street driving. But that's just me. This thing has more then enough power to get me in trouble.
How did you get all that info on your Cali? Thanks....

Actually that's the Bumper to Bumper warranty. The Powertrain Warranty is 5 years or 60,000 miles isn't it?

As I said before, bumper to bumper is 3/36 and powertrain is 5/60

Talking

Some of you need to strap on some ***** and mod your car. The guys complaining about tsb's are the same type who have to ask their wives to swap out a shift **** or spoiler. I'm kidding but not really. If you're apprehensive but still want results, ditch the off the shelf tune and go to a shop like Alternative Auto who will give you a safe, custom tune that fits within your comfort level. The peace of mind and dyno is worth the extra $100 imho. lol @ waiting 5 years.

You can get the info through Ford. The Ford Performance Group will send you the stats as well as a signed Limited Edition Certificate for your CS. This is the link:

http://www.fordshowparts.com/store.cfm?store_id=1

The cost is $45.00 and delivery is pretty quick. Hope this helps.

Scare tactics... Why? That makes no sense. Ford doesn't get hurt nor do they benefit by you modding your car. I for one am glad that they just came out and said it instead of burying it in fine print or leaving it fuzzy enough so that you feel screwed. All they are saying is that if you mod your car with a tune and the engine blows up it's your responsibility to get it fixed, not theirs.

I gotta wonder why Ford or Ford Racing isn't stepping up and offering some tuning tips or guidelines to the aftermarket as a whole, and to those who develop their own files.

While it is understood that Ford will be closely eye any engine warranty claims from people with tunes, having Ford's input would be nice. Since someone talked Intel Overclocking, you can go to their website, and they tell you on the specs page the voltage range, and the temperature range, thus allowing you to know the safe overclocking values.

I challenge Ford to come forward to work with the aftermarket and provide them some tuning guidelines, like don't tune the knock sensor beyond these values, don't alter the throttle input beyond these values, keep cam timing values between this and this, etc....

The Mustang aftermarket success is what keeps the Mustang alive. A healthy aftermarket is also good for the economy, and good for Ford vehicle sales. If people interested in buying new Mustang's see that Ford is working with the aftermarket to make things safer and better at the same time, I bet sales would pick up a little, plus reduce warranty claims at the same time.

What's next, though?
Ford saying if they find you've been to a dragstrip, or done too many hard launches, that your warranty is void?

IIRC, a few years back, weren't Evo owners getting into warranty trouble when Mitsubishi found out they had their cars to the track?

Calm down folks. Just get a GOOD tuner and you'll be fine. I wouldn't get a mail order tune tho. I have a BBR tune and a Steeda CAI... NO PROBLEMS and my car now has 17k. Runs great, I beat a new camaro yesterday!!! lol
