Toyo performance tires

Anyone have any expierence with Toyo performance tires? I have a local tire guy that seems hot to sell me some but frankly I know little about them?

I had a set of Toyo tires years ago on an old Toyota Paseo that I owned about 20 years ago. I don't know how much they have changed since then but at the time they seemed to me to be pretty much middle of the pack sort of tires.

I have run the R1R's and they are great on the street/road course/rain or shine. Others have run the R888's which I believe are more aggressively geared for the track and are still street-able but not suggested to be used as street tires.

I have had the 888's on my car for over a year and I drive it on the street regularly. They're perfectly fine if you don't drive like an *** and if you minimize your driving in the rain or on wet surfaces. One of the only street-legal tires with solid tire from one shoulder to the other, so obviously it's not going to be great for driving on water. Otherwise, it's better than any other "performance" tire you'll find. I did wear out the fronts rather quickly though. The sizes I had are in my signature.

From what I am reading on line it seems that Toyo knows a thing or too about performance tires. I'm not saying that they are the best available or anything but at a givin price point they seem quite capable. If the tire dealer will sell me the Proxes R1 Sport at a good price I may give them a shot. Heck the nice thing about performance rubber is if you don't like them 15-20,000 miles later you get to try something ells.

I had some toyo proxes on my old car. Great tire and moderately priced. Decent wear too. Obviously not as sticky as some of the higher end Goodyear's or Perellis but that's why they are less than half.

I have Toyo Xtreme AT II tires on my truck. Best overall tires that I've ever own... I also owned Nitto tires, which are actually made by Toyo, for an '07 GT, and '08 GT500. They were excellent tires... Waaaaaay better than the OEM Goodyears, including the Eagle F1s.

To answer your question, yes Toyo is a great brand... To widen your choices, you may also want to look at Nitto tires... Again- same company.

Be careful with the Nitto's. I had NT555R's on the back of my Shelby and they were terrible. Went to the 888's and they were so much better at hooking up, and they're a road-course tire, not drag radials like the 555R's. They're made by the same company, yes, but they're definitely different tires. For performance, I'll stay with 888's and Michelin's for the street.

Thanks guys.

They're TrueForged Competitions. I had them custom made for me by those guys. Fronts are 20x9.5", backs are 20x11".

Haha

Just ordered some 555R's for seven's new wheels

But she shouldn't see rain

Thinking of getting a spare set of matching rear wheels and putting a normal tire on it

I was wondering what you'd gotten your cars.

Hopefully your experience with them is better than mine was.

Was gonna get NT05's but they were back ordered and they couldn't tell me when they could even get them

Was gonna go MPSS or even the Hankook Ventus R-S3 version 2

We will see. I never plan to be in rain and I realize it's a straight line tire on the rear.

Got some plans to get the RTR's widened and do something else with those wheels. Looking at 325/30/19 on those.

Yea that's a great looking car Kco. Those wheels are perfect for it. Good call.

I can tell you take good care of it so let me recommend some products to help you in that regard.

You might want to inquire before sticking a 325 on. You would likely need some bump stop relocation brackets and to trim the shock boot.

Good luck.
