Thouhgts on debadging

I've given some thought to possibly debadging the car. I'd like to remove the 5.0 badges, as well as the large round emblem on the trunk between the taillights. I'm sure that piece has an official name, but I don't know what it is.

It's my understanding that there are holes behind the 5.0 badges. Does anyone know what's behind the piece on the trunk?

Holy crap, I've been looking everywhere for a picture depicting what that would look like, but I've been unable to find anything. Thanks for that.

Yeah I had the same question about the 5.0 badges. Are they pinned in or just double sided tape?

I'm pretty sure that piece you are referring to is the faux gas cap.

I won't say I love the 5.0 badges, I do enjoy the GT a lot more I think. The 5.0 is only special for these new models. At least the 5.0 was revamped to look a little more modern, could have kept the old 5.0...ack!

There are alignment holes in the fenders.

You'll need a custom shop to smooth out the bump if you chose to removed the emblem...

That is what I was looking for, thank you very much.

Do you have a link to a thread that provides any more information?

Here's the thread where I got the pictures.

Or if you have a youtube account you can ask him on there for more info too...

Can I have your 5.0 badges after you remove them?

I wanted to remove the 5.0 badges, but I think I'll probably swap them out for the tri-bar pony instead. I want to keep it a little bit cleaner than the stock form, and also make a slight change.

You can get the CDC rear panel to cover that hump if you want.

What if you don't like a big chrome number on the fenders though? IMO, less is more. Swapping them out for the tri-bars and doing the center caps on the wheels would be a subtle change.

I agree.

He asked for thoughts on debadging.

Nothing wrong with debadging. I too believe less is more when it comes to badges.

But its your car to do whatever you want with. Removing badges is far better than adding them, or putting fake badges on.

I've always been a fan of debadging. My current S60 R is debadged, although there's something about the mustang and most other muscle cars that just isn't right about it.
