Thinking of switching exhaust systems

I've been running the Corsa Extremes with the X-pipe since shortly after I got my car, and, to be honest, I think I want it a bit louder. The FRPP/Borla 3" system has got my attention right now, but I haven't heard it in person yet. I've heard the axle backs vaguely, but want to hear the system with the 3" over the axle pipes and their X-pipe installed.

So, I'm looking for other options. Needs to have no drone, and preferably an X-pipe sound. Another option would be a Boss 302 H-pipe and GT500 mufflers to add a little "surround" to the exhaust.

You're turning into me Steve! Your car sounds great, definitely a lot quieter inside than I expected it to be at WOT.

I think the Borla S type's and your X pipe will give you the extra volume you're looking for at a far cheaper cost than doing a full catback.

Just last week I heard my first 5.0 with aftermarket exhaust and it happened to have the Borla S-types and carted X. I fell in love with the sound. Combination of 4.6 4v and Audi RS4 V8s. Amazing!

I thought the Corsa Extremes + X pipe were up there in volume?

The Borla S Type isn't even as loud as the Roush ab's, right?

They're decent, but I haven't compared them to the Borla side-by-side. I am going to meet up with J1000 later this week to compare in person.

Borla S with x pipe has always been one of the best sounds on the mustang IMO and will be the setup I run if I get another mustang..

I'm thinking that might be the way I go now. My only gripe with the Corsa system is the X-pipe; whoever thought it was a good idea to put a cut in the drivers side pipe created a lovely spot for a leak. Not to mention, it seems like a pain to try and align the system with that in place.

Please make a HD video of a side by side comparison

Ever thought of keeping the corsas and putting that $ toasted some LT headers? That'd be plenty loud!

Don't want to do headers. I actually want to keep my cats, so it's louder, but not too loud.

I've been thinking more and more about just swapping the Borla X-pipe in and seeing if that resolves my occasional leak out of the Corsa pipe. The fit & finish on the Borla pipe looks quite a bit nicer.

Well, after the side by side, I'd say Overboost is a Borla fan ;-). Here's the comparison video. It was shot with a stereo-capable HD point-and-shoot that was placed approximately 10-12 feet behind the cars in an open parking lot. The details of the RPM, etc, are in the video intro.

Nice.

How does an X pipe change the sound? It makes it more raspy and higher pitched, no?

It was that way on the 3V, but the 5.0 seems to be the opposite.

On the Corsa system, it actually took out some of the raspiness at higher RPM's. I've got a small leak in mine at the joint, which is on the drivers side pipe:

I'd like to go with an X-pipe that is all one piece.

Wanna trade axlebacks? I have the S types with about 500 miles on them and they are WAY too loud with the supercharger!! I have the magnaflow o/r x pipe and factory midpipes and while the car was NA it was the best soundind exhaust I ever heard on a s197...now with the blower it way to **** loud! LOL

I definitely might be interested. Where in PA are you located? I have family out there, so we might be able to work something out if I'm in town visiting.
