SYNC question

Hi,

I ordered my GT (expecting delivery in a few weeks) with SYNC. Does anyone here have it in their Mustang, and how useful is it? I typically play my iPod in my current car, but it's a pain to program while driving. Does SYNC actually elminate this aspect of using an iPod in the car?

Thanks.

Every Premium has SYNC, so yeah most of us do. If you use a USB cable to connect it then yeah you should be spared a lot of issue assuming it indexes promptly, as the voice recognition is fairly reliable. You can use it to tell it to play a song or an artist or an album if you want. Bluetooth to a phone is a bit hit or miss depending on what your phone allows, but in general they give full phone capabilities and passthrough of what music it has playing.

I bought a 16gb usb flash drive and loaded all of my music on it. So long as you have your music properly tagged, and no DRM, Sync will play it. I've only used the directions feature once, and it worked flawlessly. The services are cool too. I have it set up to give me the Braves score and weather report.

See also this about the music limit with Sync. There is a variable limit on the number of songs it can recognize off of a drive.

I tried to play a certain album today and for some reason I guess sync thinks "album" sounds like "help" when I say it because that's what I kept getting. I got it to recognize the word "album" once but I had to say it like "AALLLLLLLLLbum", sounded like a real asshat.

Generally its very useful, especially with the iPod. The voice can get a little ponderous. For example there's another thread on here about suffling all of your music. You have to tell your car to "play all," then tell it seperately to "shuffle." Still, the buttons and the voice controls work very well with the iPod. I think you'll like it.

A few videos from Ford on how SYNC works. Please share because most people under estimate the system's capabilities and potential.

I am loving the Sync, except for the fact it has difficulty hearing me (and vice-versa) while zipping along with the top down at 55 mph or more.

So far, I'm not impressed ( with any of it). It's been more of a hassle and aggravation............so far

People don't like your phone(tunnel voice) and background noise on blue tooth.
Directions -can't seem to locate my car.
Can't recognize my voice or understand me half the time. I usually end up cussing her out

Did you setup your owner's account? Here is how: http://www.fordvehicles.com/technology/sync/?brand=flm

Then you can try something similar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AMW4...eature=related

You seem a bit frustrated with SYNC. I have never had any problems and I demo many cars to help one of my friends who sells Fords.

You definately have a few steps prior to the the system being able to locate you. Just a few buttons to press, a couple of voice commands, and it should work fine. Good luck.
