My Taurus does that very frequently. Sometimes pressing the 'phone' button jolts it awake. Sometimes not. It's very, very frustrating.

Have you tried yanking out the Sync fuse for a minute and putting it back?

Did you do a Sync update recently? Let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes in the accessory position and it might start back up.

Pull the Sync fuse for a few minutes - #3 from the bottom, behind kick panel on the passenger side I think. It may be labeled MCM?

Here's a thought: take it to the dealer for repair under warranty.

well i thank you pointing out the obvious, but the dealer is over an hour a way...and i don't want to waste the time or gas if it's some easy fix...next time, you might want to save your own time by omitting "take it to the dealer" posts.

Your car is obviously still under warranty, so taking it to the dealer should be your first step. Is there really no other Ford or Lincoln dealer closer than an hour away from you? You do not have to service your car where you bought it, if that's your reason for driving so far away. If you are in a remote area, then I suppose the long drive to a dealer is a turn off, but high tech stuff like SNYC is not typically something that can be fixed by a lay person.

Problem with taking it to the dealer is you can almost be assured it will work just fine for them... and then they won't do anything with it. Speaking from experience with two dealers, if it's working fine right now, then it's not their problem.

I've only had one occasion where the Mustang SYNC 'failed'... but as mentioned earlier, I never know what I'm gonna get with the Taurus. It will change it's mind and start working again for no apparent reason. Just this evening I was on the phone outside when my wife started the car and the Taurus picked up the phone (while I was still outside) wondering why I lost my call. Wife heard the phone obviously and shut the car off. Meanwhile, I hung up. When when I got in and she started up the car again, it went to HER phone. In the space of maybe 32 seconds.

I've had this happen before when I first got my car and it bewildered me. I could turn off the car and restart and it had no effect. I traced it to a phone call that had not been hung up properly within sync, but it gave no indication that this was the reason. I held down the disconnect phone call button for about three seconds and it made the beep beep tone and everything went back to normal. If you simply press and depress the button it won't do anything, so hold it down for three seconds. I'm not saying it will work in your case, but it might be worth a try.

I've had similar issues as the above complaints. Are there a lot of people on here that have no problem at all with and have used all the features without a hitch? Please post a replay to comfort us those of us that are experiencing problems.

SYNC updates can only be performed by the Ford service departments. Those cars with the touch screen navigation have a "perform update" button in the menu, but pressing it does nothing as the service department has to patch into the car (via OBD-II port???).
