Any thoughts or advice?
The Pirelli 255/40ZR19 is molded with 6/32" of tread depth in its grooves and the legal limit of tread depth is 2/32" in most states.

I've seen estimates of 2/32" per year of wear for warranty for this tire, so that's about 2 years of summer use.

I've seen these tires go for $300 or so on-line, so I figure you should ask for at least $150 for each tire damaged.

I went back to Pep Boys today to see the manager. It went suprisingly well. No arguments. The service manager was this nice guy Vinny. He came out and looked the one tire I brought with me and said that it was the clamp that did it, and that the guy should have used some kind of plastic pieces but probably didn't know where they were. He wrote down what kind of tires they were and said he would order them and give me a call when they came in. I just have to give him the old damaged tires. I have a few scratches on a couple rims too, and he said to go to a rim shop and get a price on touching them up. So, everything went good.

Good deal, they should replace these for the trouble. Great news!

Glad to hear it worked out! Although I wouldn't want to be the next new customer that ends up with your old tires on their new install.
