Suitable Tow Point...

I'm headed to my first track day event at the California Speedway in two weeks and I was going over all the things I need and I came across the following statement on the Track Day Check List:

TOW HOOKS or a suitable TOW POINT are required on the FRONT of your car (and recommended on the rear) . If you do not have a tow hook or tow point established for the front of your car, please figure out a tow point we can use to hook on to in order to pull you off track in the event of a mechanical problem. You are responsible for establishing a tow point.

Does anyone have any suggestions where I can locate a suitable tow point on the front of the car? I hope a tow point will not be needed, but I just want to be prepared.

Is this an HPDE event? I know they have normal tow trucks at those events as most people that are in HPDE1 or 2 do not have tow points like the serious race drivers.

The event is held by Speed Ventures. They run track events throughout California.

its basically an HPDE type event (non-timed, thus classed as a school).

The mustang has excellent front tow points even without a hook installed (there's large holes flanking the core support that tow chains can easily hook to, very solid)

I'm putting hooks on mine at some point just because the things gets used on *censored* a number of times a year so might as well have all the recommended safety that you'd want in a *censored* car.

I'll be getting tow hooks installed on mine just 'cause I think they look cool.

I also drive it in the winter, so they could be very handy if I get stuck in some snow.

I would never need them for some unapproved activity that could potentially affect my warranty status!

I'll probably post the updates here: https://themustangsource.com/f813/an...gs-yet-500063/

I'm hoping the shop can take a couple pics during installation for me.

No Tow Point Needed

Had a GREAT time yesterday. I drove my car to my limits. If you live in the Southern California area I would recommend taking your car out for spin around the track. Speed Ventures does a nice job putting together a great track-day event and keeping everything running smooth. Here's a pic of me on the front straight.

And here's another on the back straight of the ROVAL.

2011 mustang tow hooks

tow hooks are not manditory in most events, but if you need to be towed in, mustangs have no good tow point and you risk serious frame and body damage. i learned it the hard way. never again...

Any chance you have a photo of those tow points?
