SPEED test drive eco boost v6

I was watching SPEED test drive on SPEED CHANNEL and saw a segment on the eco boost v6 in a Ford F150. They did a series of amazing torture tests and it performed like a beast. If you haven't seen the segment, I recommend that you do. I now have a new level of respect for this engine.

All in all it's an amazing engine that I'm sure they are just starting to touch the potential. If that ends up in the next mustang, I suspect that it'll be an amazing and NIMBLE car. I've been lusting over Porsche Turbos since I was a teen. I'd be idiotic to be snobby about needing a V8 if a highly engineered 6 was lighter, more economical, produced more HP and Torque..... Viva technology.

Yeah I saw that. Used to think I wanted to move up from my F150 to an F250 with a huge V8 for pulling a horse trailer, but could never get my head around such low mileage all the time.
But the wide torque range of the EB is pretty amazing for a gas engine. And yet when empty, you get better mileage.

i dont think it would be anymore nimble that the GT. Already been established that the EB V-6 weighs more than the 5.0 V-8. BUt it would be a great performing engine i am sure

My dad got an EB6 F150 last month. He can't keep his foot out of it. He gives friends and family ride alongs so they can see how fast it is. It's funny as heck because he is 72 years old.

He's like a kid with a new toy.

IMO we'll see an EcoBoost I-4 before an EcoBoost V6 in the Mustang.

I traded my 2010 5.4 for eco and can tell you that it blows me away to have a v6 with that much power.

While an SVO retro version would be cool, keep the GT an 8 and put the EB4 or EB6 in an AWD Fusion. About 300 hp or so would be nice.

I'd drive that as a DD!! And cart the kids around too.

Do you know what the weight figures are for the two engines? Even though the EB6 with it's turbochargers and extra plumbing may be a little heavier, it could help the overall balance of the car. The V6 is going to be shorter than the V8, meaning that the weight is moving back, making the car less nose-heavy. At least in theory.

EB6 in a "special" edition Mustang (SVO) not to be confused with the other Mustangs. Short run of a few years. Make it cutting edge like the original. This time IRS, AWD, DCT, etc.

Remember the original SVO's were very expensive for their time. It was a kind of here look what we can do with this platform that you never expected kind of car.

Also make a competition package for radio,AC delete, throw the Recaro package in their and I'd buy it.

It's not your tire melting GT500, but it still would be an awesome "version" of the Mustang heritage.

An EB6 AWD would be an interesting setup, not going to lie I'd probably consider buying it. Its completely against the grain for Mustang, but that's the fun.

The 5.0 is actually a bit quicker, but the EB can stiil get out of its own way

I love my 5.0 soooooo much but I have to say I would have gone ecoboost if I would have had an option, not that the new 3.7 is bad but that EB would have been so sweet

As much as I love the new 5.0, I would swap it out in an instant for an EB6, especially since it's my daily driver. The extra low rpm torque would be a blast from the EB6 along with some sort of manu-matic.

I don't care that the EB6 engine weighs a little more, or that it would cost a little extra, but that much torque at low rpm's would be intoxicating...

The Ford Flex with EB6 and AWD ran a 14.3 quarter at 96.7mph, and the AWD Flex weighs 4,840 lbs with a lower tuned output than the F150 EB6.

The F150 with EB6 and RWD runs the quarter in 14.6 sec at 94.6 mph.

Let's all imagine what a 3,600 lb Mustang with EB6 would be like... yummy
