And its nice that its a REAL 6 speed (5 with 1 OD ... IIRC)

I know some other cars that have the R beside 1 has a reverse lockout... like has to go right of neutral or something else

IIRC, the new M6 is a joint venture between Ford and Getrag

Hope those rear headrests can be removed for those of us who NEVER carry a rear seat passenger. IMO they are a hazard as they obstruct the rear view. I suppose they will help sell the rear view camera option.

Perhaps you should have gotten a Vette......
I wouldn't do that to a friend. I am not 5'1" and can't scoot the seat into the steering wheel to drive.

Don't be so self-centered in your viewpoint. A lot of people use the rear seats.

And now, thanks to wonderful politicians who feel the need to make costly laws constantly, it's a moot point. If the car has a back seat, it has to have headrests.

Exactly- The rear seats are a big factor for people with kids.

Don't be ridiculous.

That's what the trunk is for.

Of course thats what the trunk is for ... it has more room than the back seat.

Ok, Ok, Ok ... I know you're just kidding about that (at least I hope so), so was I, still, it reminds me of the episode of worlds dumbest drivers (that or perhaps it was cops) in which an officer had pulled a lady (I use the term lightly ... very lightly) over and found she had put her three kids in the trunk of her car so she would have room in the back seat for the items she had just bought (at wallmart or someplace like that).

Any specs on the MT82? Could we see this as the 5.0 GT's transmission?

googled a bit:

http://passionford.com/forum/general...s-mt-75-a.html

Ford are fitting these new gearboxes to the latest Transits.....

It is deffo a RWD gearbox, dont think that there is a 4WD version........

Anyway, they are calling it the "Durashift" and this ALL NEW 6 speed
g/gox is rated at 375 Nm (with a 3 year/100k miles warranty) *

With an adaptor/some engineering this might be a cheap T5
replacement with an extra gear as a bonus *
This trans has been around awhile. I bet the "news" is BS saying this is the trans in the 11'. Getrag is made in China.

It's currently being used in the Range Rover Defender and Ford Transit vans, built in England and has nothing to do with Tremec so it's syncros hopefully won't turn to mush the first time the car is started.

There is relatively little in the way of immediate hits on google for the transmission though, probably because it hasn't been used in much of anything in the US before.

No news on the GT's upcoming transmissions yet, aside from the fact that they're obviously six speeds.

Definitely an interesting lot of news to look forward to over the next few months.

Maybe some Getrags are made in China, but the plant that makes the MT82 is in England.

EDIT: google Getrag MT82 (without quotes) and it's the third result, a pdf document from Ford's EU PR. The MT82 is towards the bottom of the document.

I did some google'n too. Motor Trend is reporting the MT82 is the '11 Mustang V6 transmission. The MT82 is built at a Ford/Getrag joint venture plant in Liverpool, England. They have also ramped up production of the MT82 in 2007.

Do some research. Google TR3650. 2nd gear syncros. Man you are really taking everything personally today aren't you? Try decaf.

The Trememc quality control is a *very* well known issue with Mustangs. My guess is Ford pays for an extra tight QC on the TR6060 since it's going into a higher profit margin vehicle. But even then, the TR6060 has been known to have issues.

new as in 2005.
However, just like the t3650... it probably had some refinements over time.

depending on how its rated and what version of the MT82 they are using, I could seem them trying to streamline the parts and offer it on the Mustang GT as well.
