"So why didnt you get a 5.0?"
Haha, nice job. Funny thing is I believe it was MT mag did a compare back in 09 of the 2010 gt, camaro ss, and I think the challenger srt. The mustang came in second place, and was the second fastest. 0-60 times were 4.8-4.9 and the quarter in 13.7 or so. Not far behind the camaro's 4.6 0-60.
Okay so this story worked out to a happy ending but the truth is that none of us will ever have the fastest car on the street... really all we should be looking for is a car that pulls hard enough to make you smile, responds properly and satisfyingly to throttle inputs, offers good reliability and sounds great. By all of these measures, the 4.6L cars are superb.
I was already drooling over the 2010 body style and went with the 5.0 because it was available...but I wouldn't lose any sleep over driving a 4.6L car. They're still formidible performance machines and that is a honey of an engine even if it's not the most powerful thing on the street...
In some ways, I liked the motor in my 2009 GT a bit better than the 5.0. The power curve felt a bit more natural (an effect of the VVT in the 5.0??) and the exhaust note was by far the best of any modern muscle machine.
