As I read this thread I've seen some interesting comments. I saw the mention of not worrying about their car at work, well my first door ding happened at the office.
Parking lots are not the only dangerous place. I've got plenty of chips from road debris being kicked up. In general, the more you drive your car, the more likely it will get banged up.
I also believe I you drive around paranoid that someone is going to hit you or scratch your car, it probably will happen.
OP, here's my latest chip from a nice piece of road debris getting kicked up from the car next to me on the GA 400. I fixed it with a touch up paint and you can't even tell it was ever chipped. Ill post a picture in daylight tomorrow. If you're going to drop $1,000 might as well try the $40 touch up kit first to see if the results are sufficient.

I am still pissed but the quote for the $650 was for repainting the whole fender...

The Roush splitters make a HUGE difference in appearance.

I got rear ended on my birthday in my mustang with 3000 miles on it
then last night I came back to my work (park my pickup truck for 3 weeks at a time)
and find this... the whole front end of my truck is damage and my plate ripped off and thrown in the bed
not a huge deal because the trucks worth like 2k and I payed like 1500 for it... but if anyones gonna smash the front end in... its gonna be me
this is also the reason my mustang will never see the parking lot

Yeah I got rear ended in my mustang thank god I saw them coming and i turned my wheel all the way to the left or I would have gone into the truck in front of me..... but it was over a month and over $10,000 worth of damage to my car... there was a state trooper who saw it all happen.... came up to me and was like wow I am really sorry I probably would have arrested him if it was my car....
