Can someone please tell me why some 2011-2012 have beautiful metal surrounding the GT medallion on the trunk lid & others have black plastic? I'd like to know & I sure hope my car has the metal & not that plastic piece.

Are you talking about a decklid panel or blackout? Like these:

You have 3 different things, normally they have the painted metal. Some packages like the V6 MCA and GT/CS have a flat black decal on that part. The GT accessory package addes a black plastic honey comb panel.

So depends on what package and options.


Edit: just saw your signiture, yours will have the normal painted decklid.

 

even if you get the chrome surround, it will still be plastic.

 

Yes, that's what I was asking about. I've seen the black plastic piece with the ridges on a couple of 5.0s & I don't care for it. So it's something that must be ordered as part of an accessory package & isn't on the car as standard equipment. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

 

I'm with you... I prefer the lack of this option...as with many of the geegaws that can be tacked on with the appearance packages.

Some people like them. That's cool.
