Should the Mustang tackle "The Ring"?
Even if it's not a level playing field, I'd still like to see a number. GM ran the Camaro: Chevy Camaro SS Laps Nurburgring In 8:19
Remember a E92 M3 ran a 8:05, you really aren't considered fast at Nurburgring until you post under an 8:00 at the ring.

Here is a video of a Porsche GT3 that hit 260kmh (162mph) on the Nurburgring. So I doubt a Mustang would be hitting its 155mph speed limiter if the best a GT3 could muster is 162mph.

It is a simple matter to remove the speed limiter. I would also like to see some ring times - the ring tests a car much more completely than a quarter mile strip ever could.

I just hope they have the 5.0L Mustang, SLP Camaro (missed opportunity to be in the game) and NASCAR Cup cars w/ spoilers instead of wings.
the mustang has been tackling the ring for many years..
i personally do it every chance i get..
this time around ill be driving the 2010 gt500.
of coarse ill be doing this from the safty of my living room playing FORZA Motorsport.

Same here. It's so stable around the Ring, I usually do it while eating Dorito's.
i think ford will ultimately send out a GT to see how it does. for so long, american cars have been considered trash as far as courses go. GM has proved it is not the case with the camaro, zr1, and caddies going out doing tests. with the way ford has been trying to represent itself to a broader market, i think it's a necessity for them to go out on the ring and prove themselves. they can go out and show the world what a live rear axle can really do!
I think it would be fun to see, although I can also see why Ford might not want to do it.
As someone mentioned above the ring seems to be the holy grail of what makes a perforamnce car, rightly or wrongly (wrongly I suggest) and personally I dont thing a stock GT on stock suspension, would do very well
Then it becomes a beating stick for competitors and potential owners
The (unmodified) mustang is far more suited to the type of roads we have over here versus the ones I'm used to drive in the UK
All IMHO obviously
