Should I go from a 2012 to a 2013/2014?

So I have 2012 performance white mustang gt base auto. I love my mustang with the few subtle modifications I ve done to it. BUT........lol! The other day I went with a friend to the dealership who is thinking of getting a mustang and I fell in love with a 2014 race red california special. Like I said I love my car, but when I got it, it was a leftover 2012 and I only had 3 colors to choose from, none of which were my favorite colors (those being race red and grabber blue). Not only did I realize how much I loved the color I also got to see very closely the 13/14 changes, which I LOVE. I know for a fact that I m not going to like the new MY15, i just know it, and I now wish I would have at least gotten a premium one. I guess what I m torn between right now is if I should try and save some money for a good down payment and pull the trigger on a new 13/14 mustang premium in the color I want, or just stay with my curremt one and keep modding it . I could also maybe add premium interior and exterior modifications. I also considered getting it manual, but still not too sure.

Financially? No. I'm sure you'll hear it until you're blue in the face about how bad of a decision it is to trade cars in this often. Plus, the changes are mostly cosmetic and nominal, so once the "newness" wears off you've still got basically the same car that you've paid more money for.

I'm not personally a fan of the new changes, but if its worth the financial hit to you then Ivan understand the desire for it. The question is, is it worth it to YOU? Asking for advice here on this is not going to be useful, you need to determine how much money you'll lose and make up your own mind whether its worth the cost.

What are you going to be thinking when the 2015 comes out? Are you sure you're going to hate a car you've never seen???

If you have money to burn do what makes you happy.

Not sure how you know for a fact you're not going to like the '15........unless you've seen it of course, and if that's the case we want all the details

BUT.......when the '15s hit the streets, you'll likely find some real '14 bargains.

I'd wait a year and see what happens

I would wait just so you can have a hands on opinion of the new car and then if you don't like the IRS or the new cosmetic stuff then you can get a sick deal on the 14 that you SO want right now. And you would have some more time to save that down payment either way you went. It's only money after all.

Well i know the financial hit is inevitable. I know the changes of the 13/14 are cosmetic, but i really like them. I wish I have seen the MY15, but just from what I ve read and seen so far I dont see myself liking them. I do plan to wait either way till probably the end of the year because I do want to see the final product of the MY15, to make my final verdict on it. Plus I would really like to see what the 50th anniversary edition is going to intel.

I was recently contemplating the same thing as you. I was gonna trade my 11 GT/CS for a 14 GT premium cause I wanted the track pack and Recaros.
Then after thinking about it and talking it over with my wife I decided to just keep my Cali. Reason being is all the mods I have done to it and the fact that I love the car and the attention it gets. Also i'd be starting over with payments and i'm just not ready to do that.

I think if I would gotten a c/s or at least a premium I would have been ok. But oh well thats how it will always be, "could of, would of, should of"

I traded a car that had been in my family for many years to get my Mustang. I had more hours, money, blood, sweat and tears into it than I care to think about. But I did not start the restoration on it... And after all my modifications it was still not 100% what I wanted. So I ordered my Mustang EXACTLY how I wanted it. And will never regret my decision. My 2 cents...

I would never trade my 2012 5.0 for a 2013+ model.

Personally I think the new style front and rear ends look to rounded and are not as muscular as the 2010-12's looked.

Track apps and 8 more HP are not worth it to me.

If you decide to trade, DON'T WAIT! I waited to pull the trigger on my 2012 GTCS and almost couldn't get the car I wanted (model/options/colors). Especially if you want a specific color GTCS...they don't produce a lot if them.

I gave up my 2004 GT which I loved to buy my GTCS. It was hard to see her go, but these 5.0s are phenomenal. I'd do it. If financial practicality was a major factor for you, you wouldn't be driving a mustang in the first place.

I honestly think that for what I would want exactly, a 2013/14 race red california special, the lost would be worth it; BUT after some contemplating, I think I would rather save up for mods. I was thinking premium leather seats, premium steering wheel, premium gauges, and a oem nav for interior. Then c/s/boss lower valence with splitter, roush side splitters, boy racer rear valence, and finally some black wheels(still debating on which to go with) for the exterior. Then last but not least a 11s DD with a deeper growl (currently have gt500 abs, thinking a x pipe with resonator deletes; or a Roush AB).

yeah.. um that'll cost way more than it's worth just to order a GT/CS then hit the check mark for NAV. it's already got the good body bits. then all you need is the roush splitters, and different wheels (if you so choose)

then when the time comes to trade the old in, swap the stock exhaust pieces back on and put them on the new car. Saving time, headache, and money.

If you mod and go nav get the pioneer or ken wood instead. Far more bang for your buck, and they make those kits that blend it seamlessly into your car interior..

I personally think that the 2005 through 2014 mustangs are equally beautiful. I feel sorry that Ford is taking away the retro styling and going some trendy **** again for 2015 model..

I would prefer it if Ford stuck to the retro styling for the mustang the same way that Porsche has done for 911 for all 50 years straight. but i guess they wanna make more money.

Thank you very much, and yours is very nice also. Kona is my second favorite color.

I need to update my avatar. My car now has a Super Snake hood stripe and a Matte Black roof.

I wouldn't do it. I prefer the '10-'12 body style. I'd add a few mods here and there while waiting for the '15

13-14>11-12 in my unbiased opinion
