I think they should be very transparent, let us know everything that's going on, and let the chips fall where they may.

But I understand their hush hush attitude. The public, in general, is a fickle mob of bloated misinformation that remembers only bad news, and usually remembers it as far worse than it actually was.

Time heals all wounds

10 years ago when I ordered my Boxster it took a full 9 months from the date I ordered to the day I got it. But it was worth it. It was like having a baby so the wait for my GT will feel like having a "premie"..even though I have no no idea when I will get it (ordered on 3/24). But I was told that Ford will go slow in releasing the cars until they feel it they have it right...which for a new engine/ driveline is the right thing to do.Remember they are a public company and their #1 goal is to make profits.

While I don't think it warrants a media circus if QC caught it without needing to issue a recall, I'm naturally curious, so from a technical standpoint I would like to know what the issue was. It would also set my mind a bit more at ease to look at my 5.0, see where the problem was, and see that yes, they fixed it. Or see if they decided it wasn't important enough to fix and then probably fix it myself. It wouldn't be the first time!

There should have been a Don't Care option. It's more important that when they do release them, they are flawless.

I can't even order my Mustang until we close on our new house, which has been delayed a week. At least the added time gave me an opportunity to sell my truck, which should be finalized today.

Voted "Yes - but wait till after they are released"...

Personally I could care less, knowing when my car ships is fine but means nothing 'til I have the keys in my hand.

IT_Guru, isn't your order a stock order?

As some warned you before, you might not see your vehicle until some customer orders are delivered.

LOL, sorry... This is my second ordered Mustang, (5th ordered new Vehicle).

My 2005 GT was ordered early July of 2004 and delivered mid November of 2004; had my 2011 spec'ed out in November of 2009, submitted in January... it was just scheduled... expecting a late May - early June delivery.

You're not threatening to cancel because the closing was delayed a week?

Well...doesn't really matter what year they label it. They could call them 2012's, and it wouldn't mean they were getting our cars to us over a year early.

Speaking of 2012's, I think the 2012's release goes back to being available in the fall (September 2011 roughly).

Actually, you can order your Mustang before you close on your new house. You just can't let the dealer pull your credit bureau since you can't have any credit inquiries while you wait to close on your house.

I voted no, but not because of bad publicity. I do think that they should issue a memo however, to the dealers, indicating that there is a hold and notify them when the hold is removed. That would help to keep the dealership from looking like a tool. I do have a 2011 on order.

Quick Reply: Should Ford publicly release details on the hold
