Which short throw shifter is the best rated?

Which short throw shifter is the best rated?

I'm looking at the Hurst shifter, the Rousch shifter, and the Steeda shifter.. The Steeda shifter makes a good case with its stop-bolts to prevent damage to the transmission and linkage under hard usage. And its two-position handle height with calibrated internal spring tension to assist in never missing 3rd gear! I have heard the Hurst shifter is noisy. And i don't know about the Rousch shifter. Please chime in if you own 1 of these shifters...

There's probably a big difference in the 15 years or so, but I've got the steeda on my 96 Cobra and love it!

I really like the feel of the Tri-Ax on the S-197 cars. very precise and gets rid of that "squishy" feeling.

Best rated? That's an open question.

I don't think that that there's a shifter rating out there; they all work better than stock, I think it's all about cost, looks and features. MGW is probably the most technically advanced, Hurst has the look, while Steeda and Pro50 (my SVO has the Pro50) are solid shifters as well.

Evaluate your budget, driving needs and base you decision on those factors....

The 2010 GT500 shifter is the first Mustang shifter that I have no desire to change...

Weren't all stock shifters from '08 forward redesigned anyway?

Try a 10' GT500 sometime. Huge improvement over 07-09. The GT and V6 shifters all suck.

I will do that. I have not driven a 10+ GT-500 the last GT500 I drove was a KR and I didnt care for that shifter much either.

I would have loved to drive '10 GT500, but no such luck. I'll have to wait until my '11 shows up and hope I love it!...

its your trans, more than the shifter. Those triple synchromesh on the first 2 gears are nice. Double for the rest.

I took care of all my trans issues, and makes any shifter feel good. I happen to have a Hurst, no problems.

Same here.

I had a MGW in my 05 GT. That is a fantastic shifter. Hopefully they'll make one for the 2011.

The S197 doesn't need shifter stops. If that factors into your decision don't worry about it. I have had a PRO 5.0 on my car for 4 years and just decided to pull the trigger on the MGW. Nothing wrong with the PRO 5.0 but wanted to give the MGW a shot.

Do they all have that same notchy feel? How do they compare in this area?

I'm not an expert, but since these shifters mount on the outside of the tranny, I believe that overall feel is transmitted from the transmission internals, so they're pretty much the same. The difference would be the length of each shift (gate) and the amount of effort (spring-loaded or not) it takes to move from gear to gear.

Ok guys i ordered the MGW shifter today should receive it later this week... will have Tillman speed install it since i dont have a lift!
