Sad day for my 5.0
Sad day for my 5.0
Had a massive hail storm out my way a couple days ago. I was assuming a few bumps here and there.....but I've been looking more and more closely at my car, and I notice more and more dings. The hood got noticeably messed up, even at a glance. The roof has a few bumps, and the trunk as well.
I already filed a claim last night for my car and my wife's car. Anyone have any experience with these kind of claims? Particularly with the damage on the roof. I'm not sure that would easily PDR out, would it?
My wife's Sonata got hit as bad as mine, but the black on mine makes it so much more noticeable.
Sad day indeed

My friend's dad owns a body shop, and he said they had a car come in that had really bad hail damage. His dad called a PDR guy who came and got them all out but he said that he was there for a few days working on it. According to my friend you couldn't tell anything ever happened to it when he was done though.
So i'm sure your car will look as good as new

My wife almost bought a 2011 CC from a dealer that went thru a bad storm. They had several cars that had not been repaired and they looked worse than yours sounds like. They were selling a few cars as is (mostly some model with a folding hard top) for huge discounts (duh!) but the repaired CC she was looking at was perfect (and still had a sizable discount). I would think the Mustang would be a good candidate for PDR unless the aluminum hood is problematic. But aluminum might also be easier to fix. I don't know. Good luck with it. Sorry you have to go thru this.

Sorry to hear. As everyone else says the pdr guys will get out all dents except the roof. That they will have to cut and weld in new metal then paint. I know because the same happened to a friends car and the pdr guys work magic. Don't worry, your car will look as it did.
I have been there and done that several times, back in the 70's and early 80's. No PDR then, so bondo and paint, not good. South Dakota has some of the worst storms I have ever seen.
First try and find a good PDR shop and get an estimate. If your paint is not cracked, they do amazing work. You will never know it was hit. And, the best part, your original paint stays intact...no respray.
Take your time and assess several shops. Be patient. Look at cars they are working on, and see what that work looks like, in progress. I stood by and watched the guy repair a new car for a dealer, and then let him work on our car (wife's) not the Mustang, which had been grazed in a parking lot. A large dent, and a small lateral dent, in the passenger side rear door, as the a$$ backed out of a slot. You cannot see the damage at all. Good luck.

Once the weather clears up around here, I'll do some before pics, and then do some hopeful after ones
.
I got an estimate from the insurance, gotta take it to the shop I took my last car too for body damage and have them verify the estimate. if the hood gets too costly I may just go for a replacement hood and pay a few more bucks.

oh but the worst part about the process at this point is the insurance agency had the car to get the estimate, they used paper towels and other crap to clean off/wipe off the car and the marks they made. Black mustang shows all that 'damage' very very well now
Going to have to detail the car again after its fixed up

I had this happen a few years ago to my 03 Cobra. It was seriously awful. The insurance company paid the claim and I had a Paintless Dent Guy work on the car. You would never know the car had hail damage. Those guys do really good work.
