Rust making Axle Back and Mid Pipe Stick

i'm having trouble getting my stock exhaust to separate from the mid pipe after i removed the clamp due to some rusting. Any suggestions on how to loosen it up? I've been crankin it pretty good and its not coming off and I dont' want to break anything.

Try heating up the joint with a propane torch or spraying some penetrating oil in there.

I already tried wd40 and it didn't seem to do much. I'd have to try to get a torch since I don't have one

Give it a whack with a rubber mallet. That should break it free.

Use a good penetrating oil, not WD40.

i'll have to pick some penetrating oil up then. I'll need it for when i actually replace the axle backs. This was just so I could spray them with some high temp paint and change the look of the stock exhaust a bit. The rubber mallet didn't work but i didn't have much room to work with so that could be part of it. The clamp to keep the midpipe and the axle back was in the way to get a direct shot at the joint and with my lack of space, i was having trouble opening it far enough to remove it completely.

WD40 is a degreaser. Not an oil.

"WD-40® Multi-Use Product protects metal from rust and corrosion, penetrates stuck parts, displaces moisture and lubricates almost anything. It even removes grease, grime and more from most surfaces."
