RTR slow???

So here is how it goes. A friend of mine has a RTR mustang with all its bells and whistles that come with the RTR package. I have a 5.0 with 6 speed manual, 3.73 gears, and hushpower axle back exhaust. Well we raced three times and each time i beat him by at least a car length. From my understanding the RTR package has better suspension, FRPP axleback, K&N drop in filter, and a slight tune. For the life of me i can't figure out why I am beating him every time when in theory he should be a bit quicker. If I remember correctly all 3 races were from a 30 roll. Could it be a weight thing?

Does he have the 3.73s as well? If so, it could be tires, tune, or just variations in the production line.

The only things included in the RTR package are heavy rims, and body add ons which create more down force (more drag). There is no tune, and a drop-in filter is not an increase in power. It makes sense why it is slower.

Yeah he has 3.73's as well. I don't think it's a driver thing. We were both in 3rd at about 30-40 mph. I was wondering if because i went through the whole break in, while he kind of well, didn't.

if your winning by a full car length, your a better driver.

they never made 4.6 RTR's a few of the show cars were 4.6's but they are gone now.

I was beating other 5.0's when mine was stock power with RTR wheels so the weight of the wheel has nothing to do with it regardless of EVERY thread that mentions RTR turning into a ***** fest abotu wheel weight (it doesnt matter in this case)

Its all the driver... A driver can make a MUCH bigger difference than you think

Driver = shift points and shifting speed

That was my initial thought as well but i would pull on him even before shifting into 4th. I guess this really isnt worth investigating but it was really bothering me as to why i would beat him so bad.

Could always try swapping cars and racing and see what happens. That is if you're willing, I probably wouldn't be.
