Roll Control

As alot of you know my 2012 Mustang Gt was involved in a major accident this past friday. I am just now startting to look for a 2013 to take its place. This time around I want to go with the 6 speed manual transmision verses the automatic. More fun, Im not 80 years old yet...lol
My question is does the transmission have roll control? I have heard that it does but I would like your impute on it. It has been a very long time since I drove a manual and I'm concerned that when my wife begins to learn with it in our home community with some minor hills she will stall the engine and the car will roll backwards.
I know she will learn to drive it I just wanted to know if what I heard is true.

So do these new 6 speeds have some form of roll control????

^ Yes they do, and it works too (the best part), so great for learning. It's called "hill assist" or similar in the brochures.

Mine was on automatically, it's a crazy process to turn it on or off.

yep mine was enabled when i got the car. i thought it could be turned off in the menus but will have to consult the manual. i actually like it except when edging towards my parking wheel-stop in the garage (it's an inclined spot). i have to let the clutch out a little before it disengages then i can roll back and not have the wheel pressed firmly up against the stop.

Glad to learn you’re ok, TORMENTOR! As cfraser mentioned, all manual transmission-equipped 2013 Mustangs come with Hill start assist functionality.

Yes, it will hold the car for 2 seconds before rolling back when you let the clutch out on an incline on a '13 MT. Hill assist or something, its called.

edit: somehow I missed all these replies...?

Hill assist is awesome, works in both 1st and reverse. Even with hill assist my wife (who knows how to drive a manual) is still nervous driving my GT. Works out anyhow since she doesn't want to drive it, I'm always driving when we take out my car

My work truck is a auto '12 f150. It has hill start assist, I wonder if autos have this feature too.

Thanks Chad. That's what I figured. I've been driving stick all my life so it isn't an issue for me. But if I let someone else drive it now I'm aware

I love it in mine, gives you a little piece of mind in tight quarters. BTW, my wife also drives Emmy Lou quite a bit and she appreciates the simplicity of the hill assist, it is a nice feature on the 13's

I have loved it and hated it at the same time. For regular driving on hills I love it.. but while in a tight cramped area I was on a hill trying to rotate the car it became a pain.. been driving a stick all my life.. ok well since 13 and never needed it but its cool to have like was said piece of mind.

Glad you're moving on and looking for your next GT man! Hate your selling your soul to the devil though (MT82) lol. Was your 2012 tuned or did you keep it stock? I know you had exterior mods but just wondering about the tune because tuned 6R80 owners never look back. You'd be the first I'm aware of. Nevertheless, glad you're OK and looking forward to pics of your 2013. God bless.

Alternatively, when in doubt, just give it a healthy dose of throttle and dump the clutch ...

On a slick incline the hill assist is a big help b/c you dont have to overcome the combination of instantly rolling/slipping as soon as you let out the clutch, so you can feather it along.

I usually don't need to, but on steep hills with cars close I use the manual Hill Assist. E brake/thumb on lock!
