Fantastic photographs, Olds, thanks for sharing. And what a great addition to your pony's life story those photos will be!

As for your pony? Perfectly modded, if I may say

Thanks for the nice comments, guys! The route 66 trips were a blast! The first trip was 4 days, the second trip 2 days. I have a bunch of photos that don't have the car in them.

If your doing route 66 for the first time, I'd recommend researching the area your covering so you can see as much as possible. On my second trip I came back with a truck so I could get in to see the Padre Canyon bridge. We were able to drive route 66 from Winona to about a mile from the bridge. Also once you're next to I40 where it crosses Padre Canyon you can see the old route 66 steel bridge abutments underneath I40. You'd never see them otherwise.

If your into the history of the road and Americana in general route 66 still has a lot to offer. Arizona has the largest section of route 66 still maintained. You can take a mustang down over 200 miles of it.

Way to saddle your pony and go for a ride out in the wild west!

Like somebody said earlier, good to see people driving these cars...it's what they were built for! Looks like it was a great trip from the pix and the ride is looking sweet~

Absolutely right Olds. Route 66 is one of the premier road trips in America. Might I suggest if any of you guys are planning or just want to get a feel for the road, order a copy of "EZ Guide Route 66" by Jerry McClanahan. I call it Route 66 for dummies, and I don't hit the road without this guide. Jerry has painstakingly broken the route into states, and then into sections with maps, and mileage. It can be bought all along Route 66, or on Amazon for a very reasonable price. Hit the road folks, you will enjoy the ride in your Mustang.

Yes, guide for Route 66 would be useful. You can easily spend a week just getting across Arizona if you take in the attractions close to the road.

Don't know about Pee Wee's big adventure, but Mr Rex is one of the Cazabon dinos. I stopped there on my way to the Chino air museum and then Queen Mary and Russian sub at Long Beach. The photo before the dino shows a blue '05 Roush in the back ground. I talked with the owner, Steve, for about a half hour. He drove down from Nor Cal the night before and while driving across the Mohave desert found his car would go 137 mph before it hit the limiter.

Studly, the western US is awesome! Well worth a long road trip in your Mustang! The hard part would be determining a destination, there is so much to see.
