Talking Road America Track Day

The first track day of the season and it went great. The car handled great and held up perfectly. Check out the link to my You Tube video. The brakes did take a beating which is normal for this track but overall they held up nicely. The new Nitto NT05 were phenomenal, could not be happier with them. Better then the Pzero’s I used last year. Koni Yellow’s at 1 ½ turns upfront and 1 turn rear was spot on. Also got to ride in a 2013 GT500 J SICK!

Fantastic video, great driving. I'm itching to do a track day, but I have to ask:

I'm a tech-newb when it comes to this stuff, how did you record/track all that info?

I made them even shorter by going with 275/35/18. Tires are 1.5" shorter overall so I think my gears act like 3.9 or something like that.

Harry's Laptimer (IPhone App) records the lap and times using track specific Points of Interest (POI's) Then overlays the data onto the video. You can also use a $80 external GPS (Emprum Ultimate GPS) that attached to the iPhones 30 pin to make the positioning more accurate. The gear, throttle, and RPM info is gathered using a wireless OBD II sensor(Kiwi Wifi). It plugs into OBD II port then feeds the info to Harry's Laptimer APP. Really easy to use.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, though it's not like I'm going to need to go 140+ very often.

@devildog1679, you're not in the Madison Sports Car Club, are you? Or do you hang out at Quaker Steak at Thursday nights? Just wondering if you know my uncle - here's him and I.

I was watching that video living vicariously through you, as I grew up in WI and love RA so much. So much that my license plate is the below:

I did track touring at RA last summer and have done a couple track days like the one you were doing with my uncle. (Yes, in the Ferrari - I'm a lucky SOB). Sure was fun in the Mustang too though!

What's your favorite corner at RA? Mine is 13, I just love hammering it out of Canada Corner and then taking that turn hard as you feel the car drift towards the outside of the corner. And 5 is definitely the hardest for me, followed by 6.

I joined the Madison club last summer and run their Auto X events. He does look familiar. I actually enjoy the carousel all the way through the Kink

Looks like a blast at Road America! I'm absolutely dying to get my car and get out on the track with it. Going to be a nice change from the car I had the last couple years...

Love the Harry's Lap Timer - that will be the first app I get with my iphone

You need to come run mid Ohio. It's way better than autobahn but it won't knock RA from your #1 Fav
