My wife has been having issues with recaros. She is pretty short and when she sits, the opening for the 5 point harness hits her in the back of the head. Has anyone found a good and aesthetically pleasing solution?

Hey Sky Hye,

Since I am short as well and can relate to her, I say have her get a nice, thick, and pretty pillow that matches the interior of your ride. It works for me when I drive my cousins ‘Stang. (I’m only 5’ 1”)

Cousin's Stang? You telling me that Deysha doesn't have her own Mustang? I thought getting a discount on a Mustang was the best benefit to working for FoMoCo.

She doesn't have to; she is cool like that.

So maybe I should check on these Brimbo breaks?

GUYS! back on topic! I still need help with my Ricardos haha

Boss 1409 2/22/12 11:54 AM

Had a guy on another forum with the opportunity to purchase a Boss here (pretty rare only 6 for all of Europe) and asked me if it had power seats 'cause his wife would be driving it too. IMO, I would find a work around such as a pillow or cushion. My wife is 5'4" and hasn't complained about the seats, she actually likes them.

Like someone suggested earlier, I wonder if you could get seal material and foam to make something that would have a C shape to it that is padded on one side and slips through the holes in the seat like a little snug seat pillow/head cushion. You'll need a seamstress.

See if Wet Okole will make you a set of neoprene seat covers (covering up the harness holes). I have them in my Jeep and they are very well made and comfy, and the seating surfaces have 1/2" of cushion under the cover.

2 options,

Get retardos and swap her side with stock seat and sell 1 on eBay.
Or get booster seat for her or make her wear a helmet, after all recaros are for racing and she should get a full experience :)

I love my Retardos so much !

nickt916 2/23/12 01:32 PM

on a serious note, compared to stock seats, street and freeway driving, are recaros less comfortable, just as comfortable or more comfortable?

what about long trips?

Sky Hye 2/23/12 02:49 PM

In my opinion more comfortable. I never felt comfy in the stock leather seats. Once you sit in and drive a boss or Shelby, you won't want to leave. Long trips they are comfy too

Find a Ford dealership with a 2012 Shelby GT500, they have leather Recaro seats. Do your butt a favor.

i stopped by a dealer, they had a shelby with recaros and gt with regular seats, they only let me test drive for a couple minutes because he knew i wanted to order a 2013 5.0 but i honestly don't know, i liked them both, but didn't get enough seat time to fit the comfort difference. I took a leap of faith and ordered the recaros for the 2013, and I'm sure ill be happy! :)

If you don't like them, those things sell faster than anything on here. They are very desireable! The only downside is no power. I think it's a plus, no accidental seat moving. Once you get it set in that sweet spot, they will stay that way!
