Yeah, you're right. It was even more than that. Cheaper to go elsewhere.

Definitely interested in doing a fluid swap with either MTL or an Amsoil equivalent. In prior MT vehicles I've owned, it made a noticeable differences.

I may also add the pencil brace trans. scoop from the LS. That seems to lower temps and help the trans out as well.

Definitely do the "kitty litter scoop" since it can really help keep temps down on a hot day. In a track environment on a hot day it is worth 20-30* per Mark Wilson, Engineering Manager - Ford Racing Production Based Vehicles. I have mine in the box sitting on the shelf ready to go in along with the Barton brace and new fluid. My ramps are just not high enough yet.

Also- if anyone's interested in the rear diff fluid swap: https://themustangsource.com/f813/fi...e-pics-497224/

I've noticed recently that during stop and go traffic or high temps, the shifter gets "gummy" and hard to put into gears. I'm wondering if the scoop would help avoid this. As it stands now, I'm pretty sure a dealership visit is in order after Mustang Alley.

It doesn't specifically state that it meets those standards. May be splitting hairs here but does anyone have a data sheet from Redline that states that it "meets" those standards?

edit... read the thread that smeone said it wouldn't... hopefully they're correct.

apparently ford does whatever the hell they want for whatever reasons they want and nothing can be done about it.

Did mine today with help from way2qk4u2c. Changed both our cars to MTL. Wasn't hard, and yes the stuff from the factory was mysterious. First impressions of my car was it felt the same. I don't have bad notchyness like others. But on my 30 mile ride home in heavy stop n go traffic, I started to notice that the shifting was getting smoother. By time I got home it felt a lot smoother, and the notchyness was almost gone. Shifting before was good and now it's great. Add my MGW that should be here next week and it will be perfect! I would recommend this to anyone, for $40 and some time invested under the car, it is well worth it.

Nice composition on the photo (honest)! Could be a contest winner. (joking, cant use emoticons w/ the iPad)
The Ford fluid may not be good for the MT, but it makes a good mirror.

Been following this for a while, considering swap to Redline MTL, although no complaints here regarding my MT-82 w/10K in 11 months on a 5/4/11 build.

Decided to finally clear it up for myself.

I just spoke with 'Dave', a tech @ Redline, who told me that Redline MTL does NOT meet Fords transmission fluid spec (WSD-M2C200-C). He said, however, that their MT90 DOES.

He concurred that I should NOT therefore put MTL into my MT-82, if I'm concerned with Fords thoughts on doing such, which I am.

Interesting to note that on their page for the MTL it states;

Popular replacement for and improvement over GM Synchromesh® (#12345349) and Auto-Trak II® (#12378508), Ford Motorcraft® XT-MT-QS, and Chrysler spec MS-9224.

Never mentions 'meets or exceeds Fords spec.

Also note, their page for the MT90 doesn't state that, either. It doesn't even mention Ford.

Red Line Synthetic Oil

Their toll free # under the 'Contact Us' is (800) 624-7958.

Interesting because if mt90 is recommended than amsoil has a equivalent but according to amsoil they don't recommend anything so I wonder why all the confusion.

Redline

Seems they just changed the website recommendations today, now it does recommend MT-90.

Well, seems like we need more clear info on the Ford spec, so we have something to compare to. I'm surprised that they've changed their recommendations, but I've also heard nothing but good things about MT90 as well.

Can anybody get Redline MT90 chemical composition so we can compare it to the Ford stuff that Chris ( PTrocks) has provided us.

Hmm, just did the MTL swap in my car, got it from sam strano. Transmission shifts and engages gears much better. Wonder what the difference it between what i got from sam and the mt90...

Did we all jump on this band wagon too soon? Wth?!?!

What is the reason they changed their mind? I can only assume someone fried a trans, brought it in for warranty, and was denied.
