Rebates and gas prices

Just wondering whether anticipated rise in gas prices, as per several authorities, over next few weeks/months, will have an impact on cash back rebates. I know it is hard to see the future, but does anyone have a guess? I just ordered 2013 premium and build date is march 26. It would be nice to have extra cash back bonus at car pickup time.

People that buy GT mustangs don't necessarily have fuel mileage at the top of their list. If you did, you'd be looking at a focus or fiesta.

As such, I wouldn't expect it. There might be a small cash incentive to help buyers qualify, but you're not going to see the rebates like you currently do on leftover '12's. Especially with peek buying season for much of the country getting closer.

Thank you jlmounce. While I think what you are saying is true for current gas prices, repeat of $5/gallon as forecasted by some for summer may affect mustang sales .

I think you're right, it will affect sales, but I don't think huge incentives will get people buying these cars if that's the case. In which case I still don't think you'll seen anything huge.

Especially since fuel isn't cheap as it is, but the 13's have quite a bit of hype. I don't think Ford will have issues moving units.

I can't imagine it would for mustangs and other sports cars. But I remember last time gas got this high a few years ago that manufacturers were practically giving away big trucks and suv's. I distinctly remember a local dealership advertising "make us an offer" on all the gas guzzlers.

And forget about reaching $5, premium by me is already 4.49 at some stations....it most definitely will reach it and exceed it. Complete BS!

Speak for yourself! Just traded in my '07 F150 FX4 (getting 13 MPG) for a '12 5.0 6MT. Huge difference in fuel economy. Getting around 24MPG so far.
