Rear wheel alignment?

While I am waiting for a replacement rim for my aftermarket set, I had my stocks put back on and I noticed that the rear aftermarket tires were just starting to show what looked like uneven wear with more wear on the inside half of the tire, the tires are 295/35 20s.

Can you make alignment adjustments on the rear wheels? Once the new rim comes in and I put the aftermarkets on I want to hopefully be able to get any alignment issues fixed.

Also when upgrading from stock rims to larger and wider aftermarkets is it recommended to get an alignment?

Thanks,

Griff

If you lowered the car by tire size, springs, etc., you will need an adjustable panhard bar to square the rear.

The car wasn't lowered just new wheels and tires. I do have an adjustable PHB cause the left tire stuck out about 1/4 to 3/8ths of an inch further than the right but I wouldn't think that would cause uneven wear

If you have a 2010 and your rear tires are wearing out on the insides only, you need to take in in for warranty work. If they are wore out on both the inside and out side of the tire then you probably had them over inflated.

You would be surprised what small amounts can do to an alignment. Have a good shop do a 4 wheel & you should be all set.

The only other thing could be the rear is damaged & you have excessive amounts of camber, maybe a hard curb hit.

I would put "-" camber into both wheels of my road racing cars, & put "+" camber into the LR & "-" camber into the RR on circle track cars.

The shop can also check that for you.

I have a 2011, but the stock tires look fine. Is it because the aftermarkets are 295's and stocks are 235's?

The roughest thing I have ever hit was going over normal train crossing. SO you can make camber adjustments on the rears of a 2011?

If 235/50/18 is stock it sounds like you are over size. Should be more like 255/35/20.

It is very involved with either heating & bending the axle flange or using shims. It isn't something that is done to street cars very often.

I would wait for your replacement & have the alignment checked.

The rims are 20 x 10 so unfortunately 255s won't fit

Got ya, a good shop can sort it out for you. Plus when you get the alignment see if they will let you sit in the car or use weights equal to yourself. It makes a difference.
