Realtime Fuel Economy in Message Center, what is the scale?

Does anyone know what the actual scale or mpg (or L/100km) per bar is represented on the Realtime fuel economy display in the message center?

First off; I'm as dumb as a rock & really not even sure what you are talking about. Is this about that 5 bar levels thing? I think that just says how you're driving, not in MPG? Like if I'm driving on flat road, just on cruise so no pedal; it's on on all 5 bars. As soon as I put foot in it, goes down to 1 bar. Sorry.

Ya that's what I mean, and I guess that's a good question too lol, is it set to an actual scale in MPG or just "easy on gas / hard on gas".

What you do is set the car for the MPG reading and use the cruise control. Clear the mpg and let it settle on an open level road. Once it has settled to a steady mpg reading, then click the select button to change to the graph bars. I did that several times and think each bar set is about a 10 range on mpg until you get to the last graph...it can go much higher based on the fact that it is the last bar set.....

Been a while since I did that so you might come up with a slightly different answer. Also, remember there seems to be a built in error in the mpg numbers reading being a bit high.

I just think of the bar graph as a reverse tachometer, with the exception of when you are sitting still.

I'll probably just leave it on the kms to empty or average L/100km display then. Thanks for the replies.

I use the bar graph because I hate seeing the numbers all the time. With the bar graph, I can "think" it is getting better mpg's....lol

The bar graph? I think its like the old vacuum type gauge that i think i saw on Chrysler products in the 1960"s (i know, i'm old or is it ). If you kept the needle on the 'green' you were getting the best gas mileage.

It's not a reverse tach, it's a vacuum gauge. More throttle = less vacuum, and therefore, theoretically, less MPG's. It's not really telling you anything that you couldn't glean from your foot position on the gas pedal.

Not even a true vac. gauge either since it gives no reading if you are not moving.
