Real world fuel consumption and a few pics
Thought this may be of interest to some and a few pictures from Europe.
GPS reset at Le Mans
1393 kms = 865'
Av cons 27.5 UK mpg. (22.8 US mpg).
* Disclaimer - the top speed was of course on a private closed road....
a few pics
Le Mans
The airtrack camp site was at Chateau Durand - This exceptional race was first run in 1923, created by Georges Durand, a native son of Le Mans mad about cars - sadly the chateau is in disrepair.
Mulsanne straight was open when we left on Monday - brilliant...
Nice overnight stop in Biarritz
Used a new route through Spain via Teruel - great road and toll free. Unfortunately hit a Thunderstorm/cloudburst in \Sagunto - while it cleaned the car it slowed us to 40mph for 50 mins.
Fantastic run down but nice to arrive at the villa though!

Here's a real world example for you. We just did a 15 day National Parks tour and the spreadsheet below shows the results. A lot of it was at substantial altitude and we did go over a pass that is just shy of 11,000 feet. I was not pushing it, but some of the highway cruising in Montana was at about 82.

Same speed cruise control... Think about why airplanes cruise as high as possible?

Ok so i reset my average mpg gauge and it turns out it was stuck at 12.5mpg. Now that its working again it shows 18mpg city, i had to baby it on the way home from work to get that. Actually it took a lot of luging and self control, whew i was getting worried. I wonder why it was stuck at 12.5 ooh well!

Hi, thank you very much for the article, I read a similar one on this site https://fuelson.com/ . In general, I am very interested in the topic of fuel consumption in the engine and it is what I read in your article that is most useful to me, because I work in this field. By the way, I found little information on the Internet that I need, but yours is exactly what I need. Who here knows more about this topic, please advise interesting books or articles that you can read, it's just that I'm very interested in reading such articles or books, to be honest Why do I ask, but because my car sometimes consumes a lot of gasoline, and sometimes not enough, so I'm interested.
