Race Red vs. Torch Red

Stopped by an out of town Ford dealer on the way to my wife's mothers today (happy Mothers Day to all TMS mothers!). Dealer had a 2011 Race Red coupe sitting right next to a 2010 Torch Red. In the bright sun, the Race Red looked brighter and had more of an orange tint to it.

I really liked the Race Red. To my eyes (and my wife's eyes) the Race Red was definitely not darker and definitley not reder as others had posted who had seen it at an auto show.

My 86 GT back in the day was red and it seemed to have an orange tint to it...would you say that they are similar?

That would've been a great time for a cell phone pic to share w/ your TMS brothers.

A cell phone pic probably wouldn't have done a good job showing the difference in the two colors.

I stopped by the other day to see a 2011 V6 in Race Red at my local dealer. I parked my Torch Red 2005 GT next to it for comparison. I agree that the Race Red is brighter and has more orange in it.

I don't know, my wife's phone takes better pics than my digicam.

Race Red is basically Performance Red from back in 2000----

I had a nice 2000 GT vert in that color. I had to wait 6 weeks for it (didnt order, only one was inbound delivery to another dealer)

It was a rare color, it was the ONLY color tht the COBRA -R came in

Torch red in itself has an orange tint to it especially depending on the light.

Oh don't tell me that. I love Perf Red! Dammit now that's just another color combo I'd love to have in the 2011s, Race Red/Dark Charcoal. Hmm Saddle might look good with Race Red too. Argh!!

Yeah that would be good too, although I think Brick Red looks better with Red Candy. Too bad they nixed that combo for 2011...

Sorry to derail from the initial top of race red vs torch red, but...

Any ideas out there why they eliminated that combo? I had my heart set on it until I found out a couple days ago it wasn't allowed.

I don't know. Because Ford's dumb!

Really though, probably just to limit the number of possible option combos; there were probably very few 2010s ordered in that combo (same as Glass Roof cars with Stone interior), so they eliminated
it.

My new 5.0 is race red and it's a little more brighter than the torch red mustangs i saw on the dealer lot. It defnitely seems to "pop out" more at first glance than the torch red. Either which they are both nice colors.

Race Red looks really good in lower light conditions imo. Bright sun makes it look a little orange but all in all I'm glad I ordered it on my CS.

The pics are gorgeous, now lets see some video!

It would be nice to see a picture of a red red 2011 parked next to a torch red 2010. It's hard to get a good feel for the difference because cameras vary.
