The 5.0 has been out for a while. Seems that very few have as of yet opted for forced induction. I know I haven't. the stock 400+ ponies seem like they may be all I really need, but he allure of being blown. Well, I think about it all the time.

So this is a question for those of you who haven't been shy about paying the price to get blown. Does it live up to the hype? How about durability problems? Is the difference substantial? Has anyone had terminal failure? What are dyno results like and quarter mile times?

Some of you have your minds in the gutter. I KNOW I DO.

I got my Race Red GTCS 3.73 Ford Racing Street/race suspension package blown. It feels great! Awesome to be precise. I talked with the Ford and Whipple engineers and they seem very confident, due to their safe-siding the programing of the PCM, that the 624 Whipple and ford kit will not shorten the life of the engine. We'll see. I don't intend to endurance race anyway, so here's hoping.

I swore I was not going to supercharge my 5.0 but I'm having 2nd thoughts now I've began doing my homework on all available kits and got a chance to see the KB,Vortech/Paxton systems yesterday at GTR here in Socal.

I'm waiting for more testing and tuning before making a decision.I want to see both the Ford racing and Roush systems and the Eforce. It's hard not pulling the trigger on a supercharger after seeing the goods in person

Taking my mind out of the gutter... I find I totally agree with you.

Before guying my '11 5.0 GT, I briefly looked at a '10 GT500.
But the price difference was too large for my wallet, I couldn't cover it.

However I'm now thinking in 3 years when my car is paid off (and nearing end of factory warranty) = time to get blowwwwwnnn! The price difference ends up not that much, like $6K (avg)? If I start saving $2K/yr now in an envelope hidden in my sock drawer, only $166 a month will get me the $6K in 3 yrs for my supercharger and wifey will be none the wiser

LOL at hiding mods right under your wife's nose. Ever since I put on the Steeda Sport Springs my wife thinks the car has flat tires because it sits so much lower.

Man you get caught at that it will more than not cost you lots more than the 6K and a house !! LOL ok i had my mind in the gutter. couldnt you tell her in 3 yrs the car needs paint and bring a shelby home instead ?? ok maybe not but how do you disguise that sweet whine ?? not to be confused with forplay of course ?? and that goofy grin you will be wearing once you are blown ?? Well the upside is you have 3 yrs to work on it hope you dont have a hole in them sox like i do
But i dygress from the topic of engine longevity with a SC

cerntri's are the way to go.

no low end detonation issues. DCR tuning allows big boost and power. JPC makes 803rwhp on a stock engine with 12psi and race gas.

I agree with the potential of the centrifugals.. And I can vouche for the quality of the Vortech blowers.. But I honestly am planning on a Whipple this time around..

That's key right there and a big selling point for me. (it also raises the price point)

I'd jump for the whipple/Ford Racing or Roush kit.
Only for the knowledge of the engine and their stock tunes for them.

To me I'd want piece of mind for engine longevity compared to someone tuning the snot out of it to gain every single piece of HP out of it (which some people want)
but to do so, eliminating some key safety guards.

But again, that's just me...you may have different wants. If I was up around 525-550hp on those stock tunes, getting 25-75 more HP isn't in my mind.

I like changing parts because I want to, not because I have to.

I'm thinking similar. Engine longevity is absolutely key for me, especially since I'm a daily driver. So I want to err on the side of caution instead of trying to push every last HP out of the engine.

This x100. There is only so much usable HP on the street anyway. I think the Whipple is a nice compromise
