Questions about installing aluminum DS
Hi Guys:
Finally I have some time to install my Steeda aluminum DS this weekend, hopefully. I have come across two questions: 1- Do I have to remove the exhaust pipe? I can't bed the stock DS to pull out the back. Even if I could do that, how can I slide one piece DS back in?! 2- Does the transmission side DS just slides out? It seems mine is sitting there firmly. There is only 4 bolt keeping to transmission side, correct?!
The instruction, and what I read online, say it is one hour job. I am at it for over an hour and I have unbolted everything out I can't get the thing out!
Any tips?
Thanks

Thanks.
Yes, I did remove the both for center carrier but it was not coming out.
I ended up removing the exhaust pipe from back of the mufflers to the front of cross pipes. It took only 5 minutes, literally, to remove the pipes but it made removing and installing the DS easy, way easy. The only challenge was getting one of the exhaust pipe connection to the same exact place, but at the end, it went all well.
The car feels better/more responsive. It also doesn't make as much as clunks when I change the gears which was a huge annoyance for me. I am hoping I get some better MPG too!.

I upgraded to a one piece drive shaft when I did the SC install. Since I was adding the supercharger at the same time, I can't really say what the shaft's impact was on performance.

My clunkiness is quieter now with the stock shaft back in than when I had the DSS in there

If you believe what some others say, people report .15-.2 second drop in ET on these cars in the 1/4. I have a Shaftmasters waiting to go in but will also be doing an O/R exhaust at the same time so won't really have back to back numbers. I'm inclined to believe what I've read elsewhere that is at least worth the lower side (.15 improvement), as other have done back to back testing... even same day/same track and showed those type of numbers.

I think the Shaftmasters has some sound deadening to keep some of the aluminum ringing to a minimum. I have been extremely happy with the saftmasters and the clunking is 95% subdude. No vibations to 120.
