Question regarding Security Pack on 2011 Mustang

I picked up my Mustang yesterday but only noticed that the wheel locks were not on the tires when I got home. For those who purchased a 2011 Mustang with the Security package, did the wheel locks come installed or is the kit somewhere in the car?

The wheel locks were on the lugs and the four standard lug nuts were in a package in the trunk.

My wheel locks were still in their package in the trunk. This reminds me I need to install them.

Hmm, maybe my dealer put them on during the PDI/make ready process.

Thanks James. I'll have to check the trunk to make sure they are in there, but I'll bet the dealer was supposed to install them and forgot. BTW, I have almost the exact same car as you. I'm really digging the MCA package and I was not a fan initially. I love the wheels so want to make sure to get the locks on ASAP

Like the front license plate bracket, I think these are dealer installed items. Mine just forgot.

My license plate bracket is still in the trunk which is where it will stay unless I throw it away. I'll just keep the front plate on the passenger floorboard along with a couple of broken zip ties in case I get stopped. I just can't justify ruining the front of the car by drilling the bracket into the bumper and there's no good bracket out for the V6.

I know a guy with a '10 Camaro SS that didn't want to mount his plate so he ended up using toggle bolts. Not sure exactly the setup, but I know it involves toggle bolts and no drilling.

Mine came installed, the regular lug nuts were in a bag in the glovebox. Maybe just a lazy or forgetful dealer?

They are just cheap Mcgard locks. Given their general tendency to break (and really not provide much security), I took mine off...

The only time you have problems with the locks is if people are lazy and use an impact gun to remove them. I've got the locks on 3 of my cars and have never broke any of them in over 7 years of use. But I loosen them with a breaker bar, never a gun.

That said though, wheel locks only keep honest people honest. Just like everything else, there are tools a pro would use to circumvent them.

Went out to the car at lunch and sure enough they were sitting inside a bag in the trunk next to the wheel compressor

My dealer got my car via dealer exchange with another, out of state, dealer who had removed the wheel locks and no one remembered to put them back. So when I asked my dealer about the wheel locks, they readily ordered a new package and installed them. Frankly, it looked better with just 5 regular lug nuts at each wheel.

Ha! Mine weren't! I just got done putting them on. They left the bag with the locking lug nuts in the glove box!

I prefer it this way so I actually have 5 normal lug nuts per wheel PLUS my wheel locks. On weekends i am at the track I dont run the wheel locks (since the wheels are off and on so much) its great!
