Question for Dealers: How hard is it to switch options on already built cars?

Would be great to get an answer from the dealers we have here (Jeff, Brian, KC, Paul, etc).

There is a '10 close to me that has mostly everything I want except Glass roof and 19" wheels. I'm gonna go check it out today to see if they are willing to deal (If it isn't an INCREDIBLE deal I'll be sticking with my '11). Anyways, the car currently has the 18" polished wheels but they have another on the lot with the 19"s and the STB.

Is it possible that they can switch the wheels on the two cars and I pay the difference?

we will not remove anything from a vehicle you are not purchasing. If they are invoiced from the factory with certain options we will not remove it unless it has been sold and requested by the customer. I am sure you can get a set of new take-offs for your car,

I've always hoped for that too. They won't do it. They won't even trade me wheels/headlights off of USED cars on their lot (I tried haha).

I have worked for dealers who will remove a higher priced option and swap it for a cheaper one.
Wheels especially.
You get no discount.
The dealer gets a more expensive option to sell on another car.
This is no different than upgrading the dealer car with Saleen or other parts.
The other way around (like you want), NO.
If you want something different than you ordered, pay the price.

Man thats a bummer. The thing that is annoying is that they have 2 that are close to what I want. They are both GB. One has all the options I want except the glass roof and 19's, the other has all the options I want except the glass roof and the rear cam

Both 10s? You could add the CDC Glassback or Saleen version later? Saleen is right near you anyways....

And unless you're set on the rear cam spoiler, you can add an aftermarket license plate frame cam.

yeah they are both '10s. I think I'd just go without the glass roof, I'd love to have it but if i can get one of these for under $28K OTD I'll add the rims and STB later. This dealer is advertising $6K in rebates, plus I think I could still use the student ($500) and brochure ($750)

That's the way to go... Having dealer swap parts can be a nightmare if they have a VIN stamp or sticker. Had a dealer swap doors on my wife's Jeep that they ordered wrong. Had to do a warranty on the uppers using the other vehicle's VIN. Can't imagine if I ever had to do an insurace claim on them

Well, turns out I was wrong about the $6k off. Their ad was misleading, it really meant $6k off super duties.

Anyway the dealer had modifed the one I wanted by adding lowering springs, 20" Black Foose SS Legend wheels, LeMans stripes, and exhaust. (They were chargin $7k for their mods). Minus the stripes, the car looked GOOD. But sadly they were not willing to haggle. They would accept X-plan and the $2500 rebate that Ford was offering but that was it. Even though the car had been sitting there for 10 months. They also weren't willing to deal on my second option there which was stock.

In the end the stock one would have come out to be $500-$1K cheaper than the deal I got on my ordered '11 so obviously it was not worth it.

But man being around all those stangs kinda turned me on (I really like Grabber blue!)

These CA dealers are retarded. I can't believe they are being so stubborn with the leftovers. Especially one that they modified and significantly shrunk their market for...

You shoulda seen him Patrick, the guy wouldn't budge. I was straight up with him too. He didn't care the car had been there that long. And the one they modified had a sticker price of $43k

It did look really good though

Jeez. Our dealer is sticking $2995 ADMs on 2011 GTs and $1995 on 11 V6s. As late as two months ago they still had $2995 ADMs listed on 2010s.

Wow, we didn't even do that on 2005's! We were MSRP (and often as much as $1K below MSRP) on 2005's. We're barely over invoice on 2011 V6/GT models.

Haha umm yeah they were sticking $15k on top of GT500s all through 07-09 and I don't remember what they did for GTs. It's ridiculous though. I mentioned in another thread where Ford closed 4 dealerships in the area and consolidated all of them into this one, so people don't have much of a choice to go look elsewhere. Luckily we have a salesman who has been there for almost 50 years, and he doesn't care about lining the dealership's pockets. I just hope I get to buy a car from him before he retires. He's the Fleet Manager now too.

Any pics of the modified car with the Foose wheels?

Yes I have 2 VERY crappy cell phone pics. Only 1 of them contains the wheels in the shot. I apologize for the crappy pics. I was tired after work and pissed that the dealer wouldn't deal. I can upload them when I get home.

I can tell you though if you're considering these wheels, get them they look good
