Hello all,

Can anyone tell me what the cutoff date for ordering a 2011 5.0 is? It may turn out that I'm ready to order one in the Spring, but will I be too late at that point?

 

I believe that in the spring they'll be taking orders for 2012 models.

 

Here is a little more date information about the end of 2011MY and the beginning of 2012MY.

 

I am pretty sure Job 1 for the 2012 is 01/18/11 and that the US order bank opens 11/08/10. I also believe the 2011 order bank closes 12/02/2010.

 

Why does Ford cram two model years in the same year? Building and selling 2012 cars in the first month of the 2011 year?? Definitely not like the old days,when the new cars came out in September,with the hotter versions coming out in Feb./March.

 

Beginning production of the 2012's in mid January 2011 without ANY changes to the car is just ridiculous and retarded.

What next selling the 2013 model in September 2011??

The 2011 car should be sold through May 2011, then give the plants a month or so to finish building any remaining 2011 orders. Begin taking orders on 2012's June 1st 2011
Then take the usual 2 weeks off at the beginning of July for plant maintenance and begin building the 2012 orders July 15th 2011 for delivery in late August-early September 2011.

 

I think it has to do more with the fact that for many the Mustang is more their "summer" car so they want the new model out and delivered at the beginning of the summer rather than after the summer.

That and the fact that with the way we do business that we have less launch engineering staff to spread out among factories so they have to stagger the launches. ie. New Focus and Explorer is coming out.
