I know that you can turn off Traction Control by just pressing the center console button. But you can also hold down the brake and press the same button for a few seconds and it says "Advancetrac off." Can someone explain for a dummy what this means? If you turn off Advancetrac, is traction control off as well? Can you turn both off at the same time? Are they one in the same? I'm sure this has been answered, but I can't find it.

 

traction control off will just let you spin the tires and advancetrac off turns the stability control off and the traction control. Also you can push the button twice when stopped to put it in sport mode.

AdvanceTrac is yaw control, meaning that its job is to keep the car on the intended path around a corner. It intervenes and applies brakes individually at any of the 4 wheels when the steering wheel is pointed one way (driver's intention) while the car is heading a different way (like when it understeers and plows off a corner, or when it oversteers and the back of the car swings around).

Traction Control is completely different. Its job is to keep the rear tires from spinning so that you can get traction when accelerating - even in inclement weather. It uses the ABS sensors to detect the tiniest bit of slip, then will reduce power (pull timing and/or fuel), and even apply the rear brakes (if needed) to keep the tires from breaking loose.

 

Broke out the manual and understand now. Thanks for the replies. I think I'll hold down the brake and the button for five seconds to disable if I want to have some fun.

 

Apply the brake and hit the Traction Control button twice and it will tell you that you are in Sport Mode. After that...it's fun time!!

 

Is this just a Manual Transmission feature, or is this part of the Auto Transmission setup also?
