It's still listed on their site, but then again the T-6060 isn't.

For some reason I thought the 6060 was replacing the 56.
Most if not all the cars that used to use the T-56 (Corvette, Viper, GT500) are now using the 6060 for obvious power reasons.

I wonder if it would be a good idea for the new 5.0 GT to use the T-56. Seeing as it won't be making over 500hp. It might be cheaper too since it's been around a few years. Or is the T-6060 superior in some way. Lighter? Physically smaller? Smoother?

i work for lexus by the way lol. they are great luxury automobiles.

i would like to see the t56 make its way in the lineup with the 5.0
part of me just wants it to be a friggin 6sp no matter what you call the trans. but i do agree it is important what they put in there.

From what I understand, doesn't the T-6060 replace the T-56? And wouldn't it be cheaper to use that transmission across the board since it also sees duty in other vehicles as well? Just hoping it gets a 26-spline input shaft instead of Ford's junk 10-spline for GT applications.

Hi, guys. I'm new here. Will Ford ever catch up with everyone else and go with an automatic with manual shift gate? Has anyone driven one of those?

The problem with the T56 is it weights a ton and the tranny is inefficient. If they can comeout with something better than great.

I would love to see a DCT tranny but I do realize this will not happen until probably 2014.

Tremec T-3650: 120lbs (average out of all models) to the heaviest 132lbs

Tremec T-56: 115 - 129lbs on average with one model being 137lbs
Not exactly much more than the 3650

I hope they never do because when companies start offering automated manuals it seems like the real manual trans option disappears.

EXACTLY!!! I've never liked the auto-manual whatever-you-call-ems and never will. It takes all the pleasure and personality out of driving a real stick shift. I hope it's NEVER an option.

Is the MT82 really the transmission that we will see in the stang? I googled the MT82, and it looks to be the same as the Getrag 6MTI500, which is only rated to 500Nm or about 368 ft-lbs of torque, which is the same as the TR3650. Kinda seems strange that they would use a transmission with an engine that has an almost 100hp increase in power that has basically the same torque capacity as the old tranny. Guess we shall see.

Don't forget there's not just ONE T6060 or ONE T3650.
Internally they are not all the same, specs can be upgraded to handle more oomph.

So I wouldn't use those specs as 'in stone'

For the record, I wasn't trying to be smart either, just pointing out that if it shows up on Microcat, it is a pretty sure thing. I remember seeing Dark Highland Green on the 05+ Mustang exterior colour list approx a yr before the Bullit was announced. I now find myself checking it almost daily. Oddly though, it still isn't listing the 3.7 or 5.0 yet!
