Proof 6 speeds are on their way!!
I just noticed on the most recent Microcat lookup that there is a 6 spd auto and a new 6 spd man (MT82) listed! This is common with Microcat to show up a year in advance. For the record, the 6.2 engine has been there for 6 mths or so for the F150 and we all know were that is going, same thing for the 3.5 in the Fusion, 6 spd Man for Fusion, etc. That being said, I think it is a safe bet we will see these trannys next year! We'll just have to wait and see!

Doesn't necessarily mean that its FOR the mustang.
I looked a bit and I can't find any info on Getrags site, but I didn't look THAT hard.
I figured they'd just use the T6060 for the 5.0 for the 6speed.
But maybe its too expensive and heavy for what they want to achieve. The T6060 is pretty beefy.
Although Getrag makes good tranny's too, do they not?

What other options are out there for a MT that can handle the power?
I'd think they'd go with the Tremec T6060 still and go with that across the board for the V8 manuals.
Any other thoughts?

I agree, as that could be used across the power board with both the GT and GT500 keeping costs down.
I wouldn't expect Ford to use 2 different 6-speeds in their line-up. Even if the T6060 costs more per unit vs. the MT82, in the long run they would save considerable costs by using the T6060 in both the GT and GT500.
IMO

i think they are using it in the Transit but from what i saw it is still a Getrag... it would make sense if they worked out a deal to use the 6 speed across the fusion/focus/transit/fiesta... that would be good business

I have to wait until at least 2010 to buy my next 'Stang - but knowing a nice 6 spd manual will be available certainly eases the wait...now if it were only in a Boss 302...

Ford has been saying publicly for several months now that almost all of their offerings will feature "fuel saving" six speed manual and automatic transmission in the coming two model years, so Mustang will undoubtedly get them, as well.

I would say it is proof and that the MT82 and 6R80 are going in the Mustang. Anyone familiar with Microcat could verify as you pick the model you are looking up then you can use drop down menus to pick engine, trans, etc. These were not listed prior to the last update within the last 2 weeks! There are 2 6spd man. listed, one that has been there since the GT500 came out and the MT82 which just showed up. And sorry guys, but no 5.0
listed yet, but I will check with each update! All that is listed is 4.0, 4.6, and 5.4 s/c. As a side note, the 3.5 t/c is now showing up under MKS and Flex!
