Post must have mods for 2013

I got axle backs and hood lifts for my new Mustang.

Any other "must have's" I should consider ordering while she arrives?

I'm starting to give some serious thought to some Steeda Springs to lower mine a bit.

It all depends how far you want to take it. Suspension, SCT with tune and CAI, o/r x or h pipe. Those are the best bang for buck.

Can I get just the springs? or I need to get struts and shock absorbers as well like with the Ford racing kit. It would be nice to have a 1" drop on the car...

Yes, you can just get springs, as that is what I have. I'll never wear out my stock susp because I don't track, etc.... and I only will be putting about 2-3k a year.

But anyways, looks like you are already have 2 "must-have" mods... the other 2 you are missing are:

Springs (I have K springs, imo, must have for looks and improved handling)
MGW Shifter (imo, must have for driveability and feel)

I say Lowering Springs + Koni shocks/struts are must have and I'll do that before any power upgrade. It doesn't matter if you track your car or not, you will notice the difference on the streets and at lest for me it was night and day difference. Do it!!

This is where I am confused if you see this http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...KeyField=10553 is says that :

Fits 2011-2013 Mustang GT Coupe when used with M-18183-C upper strut mounts and M-18000-A Dampers.

So in the case of the Ford P or K springs I need to also buy the mounts and dampers? or I can use the stock parts.

As for the Shifter mine is an Auto so no need...

I say both are optional (especially the dampers) but highly recommended that you replace them both.

My must-haves: wheels I like (I chose black 5-spoke Saleens); exhaust I like (I like Borla); A/S tires (b/c mine came w/ summer & I live in NE); tints (legal for me); "exterior" protection: paint protectant, wax, vinyl; "interior" protection: all-weather mats/liners; "storage" protection: car cover, car port/garage and as much security as I can afford (alarms, sensors, trackers, controllers, etc). Everything else can wait a little bit.

On my 2010 GT I went with just lowering springs first and hated the ride. I then swapped it all out for Koni StrT shocks/struts and Steeda Sport lower springs and the ride and handling were fantastic!!

So far for the 2013 I already have the WeatherTech floor molds and the BBR shorty antenna.

On my list are the following:
* JLT oil separator
* Roush front fascia / foglights / grille
* Roush lower rear fascia and exhaust with square tips
* Roush rear spoiler
* Red-line hood lift struts
* MGW shifter
* Grabber Pony custom shift ****

thats for starters.....

Hoping to have it all here before the car arrives in July

I guess that GT/CS front splitter is the same as the boss splitter?

Yes, get yourself a good quality shifter. It changes the feel of driving the car. Even if you're not tracking it, I guarantee you it will put a smile on your face and lead weights in your right foot when you start shifting with it.

I was confused too at first. It is not necessary, but recommended. I'm sure the ride will get much better with Koni's, etc... but for me, the lowering springs alone are plenty great for me. I don't long distance drive, track, race, etc... so using stock hardware to go along with new springs were a-okay with me. I will never see the wear and tear on my other stock susp parts. If it does go south, that's when I'll upgrade.

Amen on your "changes the feel of driving the car" comment. The shifter/shifter is our only means of truly feeling like we control the car. Which reminds me of a story... buddy of mine test drove a 2012 6MT 5.0 today (left over on lot). He said he loved everything about the car except the stock shifter. His words were, "The shock shifter was horrendous. Now I know why you went with MGW.". It made me smile, as big as whenever get grab my MGW shifter and command my ponies

Why do you want to make changes? If you can't easily answer that question first, then the parts start flying and the bank account can go down

Kidding aside, are you looking to change something you don't like in the style, ride height, exhaust sound, engine output, NVH, or some other aspect? I don't think there are any "must haves" but rather "want to have to make it mine" modifications.

This... I want to have these to make it mine:
* JLT oil separator
* Roush front fascia / foglights / grille
* Roush lower rear fascia and exhaust with square tips
* Roush rear spoiler
* Red-line hood lift struts
* MGW shifter
* Grabber Pony custom shift ****
