Plasti Dip Question (plasti dippers unite)

So I want to plasti dip my 2012 pw 5.0 this weekend. I was thinking of my 5.0 emblems, wing, front grill pony, side contour grooves along hood, and possibly factory wheels. Now my question is, if I were to do all these things, approximately how many plasti dip cans would I need? Next question, is it possible to remove the wing easily to plasti dip it and put it back or is it possible to do it with it on? Anyone have experience with this?

Opinions or comments are welcomed!

Also, please post pics of all ur plasti dip projects!

I did 4 wheels, grill, and lip spoiler on my old bimmer and it took about 3 cans. I got an extra can for touch ups.. I'm not sure about the spoiler question, I guess it depends on what wing you have.

4 cans should do it. Use 2 for the wheels. If you do 3-4 coats it will peel off easier if you decide to remove it in the future. 5.0 emblem will be a little difficult but possible. If you use tape on a edge it has to be peeled before the dip dries.

I removed my wheels and sprayed the inside and outside, tires and all.

The spoiler would be too much of a pain to remove. If theres a gap between what's being painted and another panel, just tape off 1/4 inch away from the edge and the rest will peel off when you remove the tape and will stop peeling at the gap. (hard to explain w/o pics)

Dipyourcar.com has some how to videos and other info.

oh and a pic...splitters, trim, rims, and grill were done in this pic. I only kept it on the rims for the winter to protect from salt.
