Picking up my 2011 GT tonight!

I'm very excited, of course.

Does anyone have any advice about what to look for when I inspect the car? Any thoughts on how to break it in the first few drives? Or just general advice? This is my first Mustang, and the first sports car I've ever bought. I'm used to a Prius, so this will be a new experience for me.

Thanks in advance.

Things to look for:

1. Make sure the car contains every/all options you ordered (if ordered). If you bought a stock car, make sure the sticker matches the car. All options are accounted for.

2. Make sure there is no damage on the car. Look closely at the paint (easier to tell after its been cleaned/detailed). Look at the interior for tears in the seats, marks on the carpet, scratches on the trim, etc...

3. Check tires for any curb rash

4. Pop hood and check to see if fluid levels look right and all reservoirs are capped.

Those are just some things. Just be patient and not too excited to drive it. That could make you overlook something.

Breaking in...everyone has their own opinion. For the first 1k miles I just made sure I wasn't redlining it and wasn't driving at the same speed/rpms for a very long period of time.

Congrats, I know the feeling!

I went panel by panel looking for any flaws, scratches or paint imperfections. Check over the interior for any rips or scratches in the leather or soft trim. Look at the wheels too for any rash or paint flaws. If you can, take a buddy or spouse. You will be so excited, that you might miss something.

As for break in, the manual says this:

BREAKING-IN YOUR VEHICLE
Your vehicle does not need an extensive break-in. Try not to drive
continuously at the same speed for the first 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of
new vehicle operation. Vary your speed frequently in order to give the
moving parts a chance to break in.
Drive your new vehicle at least 100 miles (160 km) before performing
extended wide open throttle maneuvers and at least 1,000 miles
(1,600 km) before towing a trailer or before performance/competition
conditions. For more detailed information about towing a trailer, refer to
Trailer towing in the Tires, Wheels and Loading chapter.

Congrats and have fun! You will not be disappointed.

You might want to watch out when you press that pedal to the right. It might produce a sudden acceleration you're unaccustomed to.

It's ok though, it's not the unintended kind. lol

Congrats and good luck.

Is this the guy who went from a Prius to a Mustang? God bless him if he did. Burn some rubber and gas and let it it rip. LOL
