Parking brake on or off?

When storing my Mustang for the winter on level ground should I put the parking brake on or leave it off? Does it matter?

If I was storing it... I'd leave it with wheel chocks. No brakes, no gear unless auto.

I use my parking brake every time the car goes into park even if it is on level ground. As I understand it that helps take some pressure off of the transmission.

I was taught the same thing when I started driving in 1969. I set the brake first and if it's an auto, I then put it in park: first gear or reverse if it's a manual.

This.

Definitely no parking brake for storage, and manual trans in neutral.

Agree with no brake, neutral, and wheel blocks. Likely no harm would be done short term, but year after year, the rear calipers may see issues.

I'll be doing exactly this over this winter. First time ever that I'll be "formally" storing my car for a winter. I'm still amazed the wife actually bought into this plan...
