I think GT500, Boss, & GT Track Packs got the black paint job. All of us other suckers got the rust. OP did an amazing job, IMO.

Just the Boss 302's and the Track Pack which uses the Boss rear end. Funny story about that ...

"In addition to the standard 3.73 gears in a limited-slip differential with carbon-fiber plates, the rear axle is treated to a cosmetic makeover with a finned aluminum differential cover and housing painted black, unlike other Mustang rear ends, which remain unpainted. Boss 302 team member Shawn Carney recalls a group of engineers walking underneath a Boss 302 on a lift with chief engineer Dave Pericak, 'I asked him if he ever watched the undercar camera during the Barret-Jackson auction telecasts,' Carney said. " I pointed to the unpainted rear axle and said, 'Thirty years from now there is going to be a restored 2012 Boss 302 on the block, and the announcer is going to point out the concours-correct rusty rear axle.' Dave looked at us and said, 'We're painting the axle.'"

Interesting... apparently, to Pericak, only the Boss 302's he was worried about Barrett stuff years down the line. The regular GT's don't get any love

It looks very nice! Thanks for the step by step. So is your next project to put mirror tiles on your garage floor?
