Paint sealant on my '11 GT

Here are a few photos of my black '11GT after having a paint sealant treatment done by a detailer who works out of a local body shop. Incredible!

That's amazing. It's making me rethink getting a black Stang. May I ask a couple questions?

What product did he use?
How long before it needs to be redone?
What maintenance does he recommend between applications?

Thanks.

Don't know the name of the product, but apparently he is one of a handful of people with access to it... Don't know how true that is. It was originally used on government planes, but the formulator got tired of doing the paperwork required to sell to the government. This is all according to this guy. Regardless, you can't argue with the results. He has a van on which he tries various products. This product is on the driver's side and the others he has tried on the passenger side. He takes it through car washes and leaves it outside all the time. This product has been on for 2 years and it's the only place on his van that looks any good. According to him, other products can produce the same results in terms of depth of shine, but they don't hold up as well.

I would think with the way I maintain vehicles and the limited amount of sun around here (uv light breaks down polymer sealants over time) I should be able to get a good 3-4 years out of this before redoing. No waxing... it actually make it look duller.

Maintenance is regular washing (top to bottom to avoid scratches) and then detail with "wizards" detailer and a microfiber towel or wash mitt. That's it! He said that many of his customers with black cars report cutting their clean up time in half, and many of these people show their cars. This is a daily driver. I'll email him for the name of this product and it's availability.

Is it just sealant? or paint correction as well?

I don't know what you mean. The process goes like this:

1. wash with somewhat harsh detergent to remove all oils, etc.
2. clay bar to remove dirt. New car so some dirt but not much he said.
3. mask plastic, etc. as if to paint.
4. couple types of polishing with orbital sander and polish to prep clear coat to receive sealant.
5. apply sealant and buff until seeing desired depth... he applied 5 coats to mine, but usually at least 3 for a black car. He did the door jams and everything. pulled the wheels and cleaned the insides. really labor intensive... $350. had the car 3 days. If you're in the northwest, p.m. me and I'll give you his name and number. My buddy's Z06 vette came out awesome and it was not a new car. he couldn't believe it.

Wonder if it was C1. Now that it's sealed, you gotta keep the finish up.

The car looks great, Phil! My wife had her '03 Escape paintsealed when she bought it new back in '02 and the paint looked great for several years of automated carwash abuse, and still looked new when we sold it a few years ago. If I would have been smart, I would have done it to my '07 GT.

sounds like the stuff that my local Ziebart shop uses, I think they call it "damond gloss" . . . they describe it the same way but with no real specifics which makes you wonder if it is snake oil, but I've used it before on other cars and it really did a great job . . . . I'm thinking I might go ahead with it on my 'stang, quick before they start salting the roads

Yea, I'm going to be picking up my car in central CA and would love to find a place around there to do that before I drive it cross country.

For SoCal guys; there's a guy in Chino Hills, CA that does really good work... He'll evaluate the paint condition and do what's needed accordingly...

He's up here in Bellingham out toward Lynden. The cost is in a previous post. PM me for his website/number.

A polymer coating that adheres to the clear coat and protects it much like a wax would. This lasts much longer than wax though. You can get the same results wax, but not the durability.
