I understand and agree with what Boss 0960 said although it sounds kinda counter-intuitive. The fact is you can buy too much car (for the street) just like you can buy too much house or too much dog or almost anything else. I drove a new 2008 vette and it was nice but I had to really go easy with the thing. My Focus is more fun cuz I've got my foot to the floor virtually all the time.

I guess I'm trying to go more in the direction of Corvette-like handling with my mods. I agree that the car is already "too much" for the street, but the issue is that it's still "not enough" at the track.

All the suspension mods I have waiting for install should change that this year. Hoping to gain ~2s on a 1:30 course. We'll see!

Actually, I think that was very well stated. There's something about hustling a so-so handling muscle car through the curves and blasting off on corner-exit that's just so **** rewarding.
LOL. Kind of but not quite.

The Corvette was an aspirational car for me after having a bunch of Mustangs and a couple of Camaros. I see why the Corvette is considered a great car. I could have had a ton of fun with it if I wanted to be "that guy" that races away from every stoplight and pushes the limit around every corner but that's not my personality. Most of the time, I drove it as if it were a Buick but even when I was feeling a bit sporting, I'd have to push the Vette pretty darned hard to provoke any real excitement.

The Boss 302 is just different even at normal street speeds. It actually has more horsepower than my LS3 Vette but weighs more. Straight line performance is pretty close. The handling limits are probably pretty close as well. The Mustang seems more like you are driving and feeling the car doing what it's doing, as opposed to the Vette where it felt more clinical, point and shoot as it were.

Or it could be that I'm just a Mustang/Camaro guy instead of a Corvette guy, whether that's nature or nurture I cannot guess.

Whaaat???? You must be including insurance and/or property taxes and/or something else in addition to the registration fee, right?

Glad to hear it; to push the limits on the street you would have to be something like 3X the speed limit or maybe more. But you are making me want a Corvette more than ever.

No just simple registration, for a 2014 Shelby, 2013 F150, 2015 glk 350 Mercedes last year was $4,900.

I didn't register my Shelby for 15 months, I drove around with the paper plate the whole time. I was pulled over 2x and they never noticed . I didn't get penalized for it when I registered it either, I thought surely there would be a late fee but there wasn't. After the initial registration they will penalize you for not registering on time every year after that so I can't do that again. I saved around $3k at least and didn't get a ticket.

Man!!! I just pay a little more than that to register and the insurance for my Mustang, truck and Edge. Plus the taxes on my house and insurance for it too.

Mike... Marilyn's been paid off since shortly after I got her, so, I've had her for 4 years now. I must admit the love I have for her grew exponentially once I modded her, particularly when I went FI.

That being said, I (currently) have no intentions of getting rid of her or selling her. But I do want another toy car to go alongside her. Possibly a Shelby or an Audi S5 or a BMW M of some sort....maybe a Challenger too.

Got my car and my wife's Mazda both paid off before the end of 2015 and enjoying the heck out of an extra $912/month. They're both at 90k+ on miles so now just saving $550/month in a savings account for the inevitable next car we'll need in a couple years with how much we drive (15-20K on each car per year). If it's the Mustang, good chance I'll get another, but not planning on that anytime soon, much as I drool over a GT-350.

I'm keeping mine for now . . . but with the money I am putting into mods to try to make it a better track car, I could almost afford a new one.

Well, not really, but sometimes it feels that way.

You are doing something wrong my friend. I just paid $230 in registration fees last week for basically the same car
And then please guys tell me I am stupid for building my replica... over the last year I already saved over $4000 in registration fees

Maybe you should consider getting a wrap done. It'll give you that WOW factor and re-spark that feeling like when you first got the car.

I'd keep it though. I plan on keeping mine. I'm not really interested in adding more power to my V6. What I'd like to do is refine the ride and would possibly consider a wrap as well at some point.

Once mines paid for, I plan on buying a DD first and THEN start modding my S197

I have a 2011 Race Red(I owe $500) with 19,000 on the car but only 600 on the Aluminator and about 1500 on the Roushcharger. While I'd love the new S550, I would just end up modding it all over again and have a payment again. No thanks. No car payment is going to be nice. I have a DD so the Mustang sits in garage and only comes out on nice days.
