Ordering new GT
Ordering new GT
Finally situated and able to get a new mustang. I know basics, i.e. Color, interior, 6 speed . . . .but needing input on other options which FMC isn't really clear on like front and rear fascia . . . . Suggestions on must haves?
Need more info. What's your budget, aspirations, etc.?
Based on nothing, I'd say HIDs, security, and 3.55/3.73 rear end, and Brembo package. If you go auto, skip the last two.
I'd suggest if you're looking at some of the accessories, and you're capable of basic handy work, you buy them yourself and install them. Most are easy jobs that take less than an hour to complete.

I would look real hard at the "comfort package". The heated seats are worth their weight in gold with the convertible. They will help to extend your "top down" season. Passengers will appreciate the power seat, as well.
I'm kicking myself for not ordering the comfort package, mostly because I have a bad back and the heated seats would be good for long trips.
That the heated seats would make top down driving in cooler weather more comfortable is an added bonus!

Sweet car, congratulations on the decision. Good taste in colors, too. If you're really into acceleration, I'd suggest the 3.73 rear end.
Also, salesmen aren't always too knowledgabe on when a car can actually be expected to be built and delivered. Comes down to that particular dealerships allotment, and all dealers aren't created equal. If it's a concern, don't settle for simply "~ 10 weeks from order to delivery". Find out for sure how your order will fit in their available allotments.
I wasn't aware of this aspect when I ordered, and after I started hearing these things, pushed my salesgal. Come to find out their avail allotments put my car 2 months later than I'd been lead to believe. Told them unless they could somehow correct this, I was gonna cancel. They contacted their Ford sales rep and he managed to 'find' them an allotment and I got the car built and delivered w/in 9 weeks instead of 16 or 17 .

Hmm...
Mine was ordered last week. I was told the order was accepted by the factory the same day. How long should I wait for the VIN before I stir things up? They told me 6-8 weeks for delivery at the dealership.
GT Premium, Kona Blue, 3.73, Brembo, Nav, Comfort, 401A, HID

one other suggestion, although certainly subjective...the 401A interior pkg (w/cashmere stripes) is perfect new rendition of late 60's early 70's muscle to me.
They do a nicer stitch on the door panels and add a little horsey, use a darker/less shiney aluminum for the dash panel, and also add the spherical aluminum shifter ball.
I had windows tinted to max allow for my state and had a clear bra installed and am extreemely happy I did those.
Click on this pic a few times until it's as big as it'll get. put your elbows on the keyboard table and cradle your chin and stare at it...before long you'll find yourself making car noises. At least, that's what happened to me.

My fiancee appreciated the power seat to raise her up some. Made taking the 'stang on date nights an option.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on finally taking the leap on to your new GT!
As smike308 mentioned, the Comfort Package might be something else to look into (you can raise the seat up so the grandkids can look out of the window).
Those heated seats might come in handy with the top down too. Also, I’ll be more than happy to keep track of your order once you place it. Just send me a PM with your dealer’s name and order number. Have an awesome time ordering!I’m not sure if you saw my offer to track your order on your other thread. The offer still stands, just shoot me a PM.

i had the 401A interior on my 2010 GT Premium and I was NOT impressed with the way the leather was wearing. It was obvious to everyone that saw the wear pattern on the side of the seat that it was from the seatbelt rubbing but Ford refused to replace and stated i needed to change the way I got into and out of the car. This was not my dealer, this was the message they got from Ford when the pictures were reviewed....
When I knew I was gonna order a new 2012, had I gone with the GT I knew I did NOT want the 401A package. When the Boss came out I knew I didn't need to worry about it all.
