Ordered my first GT 5.0 from a great dealer in western Canada
I got a call from my dealer a week ago that my car had begun it's birth the week before. I had ordered a '13 GT Convertible in DIB with the 400A equipment group plus security option, black leather interior, 6 spd manual. I chose to go base as i enjoy gradually, carefully accenting a vehicle to my own taste. I have heard mixed reviews on vinyl striping so i will consider painted striping, shelby style after i've had the car for a while and determined if she needs them or not. I have purchased a set of ford racing shelby style rims, 19x9 and 19x10 from another member on here for a really good price. They are on the way to me from TX. I plan to wrap those with Continental DWS for our moderate weather here in Calgary Alberta. I wish i could afford a Shelby but alas, I can't right now. I will not create a shelby clone out of my GT but i do like the look of the wheels and stripes that Shelby's come with, as well as better stance from those wheels. I'll consider a 1" drop as well depending again on the stance of her. I'm completely new to car mods as I have been an F150 customer for 20 years, only putting money into modifying my motorcycles over the years.
I have read some sad posts about dealers on here but want to chime out about Westcoast Ford in Maple Ridge BC. Gord and David have looked after me for almost 2 decades now i think and i won't even think about another dealer. My car will arrive in Maple Ridge but we will have her shipped to Calgary. They are working on setting those details up as well. Whenever I turnover a car or look for a new one, the sales manager picks me up at the airport himself. When they are too busy to take my calls they email me or ask Laurie B to track down the answers and get back to me asap. They are a great team. Kudos to Westcoast Ford!
This GT is my 45th birthday present to myself. I expect i might get a Shelby or equivalent for my 50th LOL!
My garage is currently home to:
2011 F150 Supercrew, ecoboost, black with Airaid CAI
2012 Focus SE (trading up to the GT) in white with 5spd manual.
2009 Ducati 848 in red
2005 Aprilia 1000r also in red.
My garage is TOO small. I store my wheels and tires at Metro Ford here in Calgary. These guys have treated me extremely well too. They service my fords for me, providing shuttle service and always allowing me to test drive cool stuff, like a black 2013 GT! Which got me hooked.
here's my stable. I'll post up more updates regarding the GT.

also, just a side note. I work for a huge company that has the X plan pricing but with employee pricing and other long term customer perks, my deal came in under the x plan pricing.

Nice choice ! ... BTW your car won't be exactly like that one ... Canada gets the fogs in the bumper instead of the grille

so i've heard. i kind of prefer that look actually. nice car !
I watched your track video. Is your car still in stock form? after the track time do you think of getting suspension upgrade?
what tires do you have? i think your weather in ottawa is similar to Calgary.
ironically my name is D Martin

Not going to drive in the winter? That's why I went for the GT premium and added heated seats on my '13 GT convertible. Congrats, the car looks great, and I'm jealous you get the cool foglights from the factory, and I had to pay for them.

Welcome my Friend from a Fellow Calgarian.
I ordered my girl in June and she arrived in September - long enough for me to enjoy MANY warm "topless" days as you might well remember.
Perhaps, we may see eachother on the road some day!
Congrats on the beauty.

thanks Her_stang. i hope we do. my dilemma now is how to get her here from BC without driving through the mountain passes. Looking into covered transport. looks costly though.

Ouch - Probably. Is there no way they can work with a local dealer to just point-drop it in Calgary instead?
I actually had a super good dealer as well in YYC, not Metro however. When my baby didn't arrive they lent me another used convertible to go to MT in for a weekend without any hesitation! YUP - that was pretty generous of them!

wow it's been 2 years now since my car arrived at my door! Looking back at my original mods list i have done all of that plus more. I still get a big smile on when I start her up. I certainly did not expect to win some car shows or place 3rd in the IMM.
Here she is on April 1, 2013 after unloading from the trailer...
and here she is now

Nice trip back to the past for you Darren. This is the first time I saw a pic of your GT when it was still a virgin. I wasn't aware of the Canadia regs re: the fogs. It looks odd with a V-6 style nose and 5.0 badging. You did good with the mods....yours is one of the most iconic TMS member cars...instantly recognizable.
So Canada's 5.0s come like v-6 style, that's odd.. Raising a bunch of sleepers
