order time for 2014 about 2 months?

Im thinking of ordering my mustang soon and thought id be really happy if it was here by mid May. Sooner could be a hassle because I need to sell my 03 GT and it's a little easier to do when the weather gets nicer.

So is the time between ordering and delivery still about 2 months? Thats what it looks like from the order/build/deliver thread. I need to get this sorted out so I can plan to order it before or after I go to England for 2 weeks for work in March.

Could be about that. Could be less. Could be longer. A lot depends on the timing of your dealer's allocation. I ordered mine on January 12, just before production of the 14s began. My dealer didn't have any Mustangs allocated to him for February, but has allocation for March, so I'm expecting a March build. As long as the car is here before the end of April I'll be happy, as winter will be past and the roads should be clean enough for my hour drive home.

Decide if you'd rather not have anything to drive ( if you wait to order but your car sells quickly ) or have 2 cars at once. Hopefully everything works out and you have neither problem. I sold 2 cars to order the '14 - my '66 GT coupe and my '94 Cobra. I was lucky and both sold really quickly. Now I'm waiting for the new one and for the snow to melt.

Good luck!

My order went in on 1/7. My car is being built now and will finish build on 2/11. The ETA is 3/2.

Im not to worried about not having anything to drive. If my car sells fast I can drive my GF dads 07 GT as his new Focus ST was just delivered and when its nice I can ride my motorcycle too.

Im not sure how the dealer allocation works into all of this. I suppose I just need to contact the dealer.

BTW if anyone was wondering that new ST is absolutely awesome to drive. You get a lot of car for the money if you get the ST3 package. I just wish you could get the heated leather Recaros in a Mustang. Almost changed my mid about getting a ST over a new GT.

Thanks for the replies, Ill plan on 8-10 weeks to be safe.

Mine was a retail order (as opposed to a stock order, which goes behind retail) with a priority 10 (which I believe is the best you can get on a retail order). My dealer has allocation for Feb and Mar, but I don't know how many.

Hey cowboy,

Definitely speak with your dealer first. Once you place your order, you can PM me with your dealer’s name and order number so I can track it for you.

How exactly do allocations work? My dealer said that they "already had their allocations" whatever that means. This was on 2/1/13 when I ordered it. And I got word back from him on a "scheduled build date" but the date seems awful quick. I don't know. Maybe since it's a huge dealer that plays a part in it. They had a TON of Mustangs there. Who knows. Just curious.

It works like this. Each dealer gets X amount of each vehicle line per month. They know how many the month prior for "wholesale" when their dealer rep comes in. If ABC Dealer gets 3 Mustangs for March production, that's how many they can order for that month of build. If they get more orders, they email/call their zone rep asking for an extra. Most of the time, they can get it. That's how it works in a nutshell!!

I think my dealer put the order in on 2/25. I got my VIN on 3/11 and the car will be delivered on 3/25.

I gave the dealer my order on 2/18. I pulled the window sticker up this week, and it showed a blend date of 3/11. My dealer told me that the estimated delivery date is 3-25, to 4-6, but I would not be surprised if it gets here sooner. Thats pretty fast! The car was built in less that a month from ordering.

My .02 cents...The truth is there seems to be no "average" build or delivery time. Some come in less than 30 days, some take 12 weeks or longer. In my case the dealer had plenty of allocations when I ordered a base GT on January 7, 2013. In the weeks since my order was placed the dealer "for stock" inventory across the country has been pouring in. On Jan 18 Deysha responded the "order has a Priority #10 and it’s a retail order. It shows your vehicle status as “In order processing”. This means that your order has been received, successfully edited, and is awaiting scheduling action". Everything has been at a crawl since then. Hasn't even shipped yet. Latest ETA is supposed to be 3/21 to 3/27 if it doesn't fall in to a black hole again. If you get an answer from Ford it will probably be speculation, the truth is nearly impossible to find. It better be perfect, if not I have 100's to choose from dealer inventory at this time.

2014 Mustang GT
Ruby Red w Med Stone
6 Sp Manual Trans / 3.73
Reverse Sensing & Security
Ordered 01/07/13
VIN 02/25/13
Win Sticker 03/05/13
Blend Date 03/11/13
ETA 03/20/13
Delivery = Your Guess

It finished building on 3/11, elkk. It was a March build, so it’s been right on schedule…

Just ordered a 2014 ingot silver gt, track package, glass roof, comfort group. In NY. Hate the thought of buying this late in the season, but wanted a 14 vs the new 15 mustang.

Figured better get it on order before I miss out on production.

Hopefully the road salt won't be to bad at delivery, I dread getting the car covered in salt, but it will wash off.

I guess.

I did the same thing. I wanted the 14 over the 15. Even if the 15 looks awesome, it is never a bad thing to have an older body style 'stang.

The orders seem to be flying through build these days if you watch the Build/Order thread. Mine went from order on 9/24 to sitting on the lot on 10/16. It is just waiting for delivery to the dealership, still no ETA. Others with the same build date made it to the dealer pretty quick. I am guessing if you buy from a higher volume dealership, the truck gets filled up faster.

Check out that Build/Order thread Deysha with the FordService account can get you more info about your order status.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the update. Deysha is great she replied back to me all ready with a current status. I would love it if the car gets pushed through fast.

Hopefully the snow holds off. It will be a long winter looking at the car sitting in the garage...

I hear you. I don't want mine to see salt either.

We don't get as much snow in MI as in Rochester, but they still pour on the salt if there is any snow.
