One more new Ford owner

I am soon to be a first time Ford owner: 2011 GT

Always owned GM vehicles. My first car was a 1967 GTO 4 speed convertible with a 3.56 rear.
(My actual first car was to be a 23,000 mile Chevy Belair for $50 and NO rust. Dad killed that deal.)
Rode motorcyles for near 30 years till I moved to a 4 wheeler.

Past two years I have been looking at the new Camero, cruising the ads for another
motorcyle or maybe an older muscle car.

Then started to read up on the 2011 Mustang. I work with many of the
Dearborn engineers I do believe Mullally has them going in the right direction.

So on May 22nd, a Saturday, I stopped at a Ford dealer. The one salesman at this dealership
I know via a neighbor and he treats then very well. 45 minutes later I have an order in for:

Kona Blue GT Premium
Black interior with the Cashmere stripe
5.0 6 speed manual
Security Package
3.73
HID
Comfort Package
Acc PKG 5

For the vin/order/build/deliver list:

5133683
Order went in on May 24th
Built June 14th
Out of the factory on the June 15th
Expected shipping time 5 days or in Dealers hands on the 20th. From what I have read here, sure.

I just happened to be in Dearborn on June 20th and decided to drop by the
dealership to talk about putting on the factory stripe (the interior option
deleted the stripe) and if he had that DORA document. The saleman sees me
and says he was going to call me, the car was built and being delivered.
The above dates are what I read off the computer screen.
The dealer is 28 miles down the road from the plant, an hour drive at most.

He thought it might already have been delivered and unloaded. No.

Congratulations and welcome! Agree re Mullaly and Ford. Not only do I like my Mustang, but I feel good about buying a car from an American icon that has its act together and making great cars again without government/taxpayer assistance (read a news article yesterday about a possible upcoming GM IPO that will probably happen just before the elections ...it also mentioned that the government may never recoup as much as $10 billion of taxpayer money).

Welcome! Yes I too was brought over to Ford by the 2011. I didn't order, as I was lucky to find what I wanted on the lot. (in another state, but a dealer-exchange brought it here in 3 days).
