NYIAS Tidbits...
Once again, I can't believe the hostility towards a car that nobody here (other than maybe Topnotch) has seen.
Until we see the real 2010 Stang in the flesh, these negative speculation comments are a waste of everybody's time.

I went back and reread OP's post. Obviously I missed the part where he wrote this was his impressions from seeing the car in person. I stand corrected and am man enough to admit it. My apologies to the OP.
(I'm biased... shame on me
) The car better be so good all considerations about gas prices take a hike in the buying equation. Dealers better step away from the AMV horse crap too while their at it. For their own sakes.
I didn't realise Topnotch has seen the car either. Lucky sw.....
He's still keeping very coy about that avatar photoshop though. I reckon it could be pretty accurate.

There are other members on this forum that have seen it, but don't want to jeopardize their job at Ford.
The feedback they have given me isn't all that positive. Most like the current design better.
One consistent thing between my friends and my new source at the Blue Oval is that nobody likes the new 2010 rear end design.
I will have to see a legitimate picture of the 2010 Mustang before I can honestly say, I don't like the car. But, I am not too thrilled about ANY of the spy pictures.
Since 1982, Ford has never let me down on improving the looks of the Mustang, but I am concerned this time!

Hey John,
I've heard some of that, but also the opposite...that the rear end is so different that it was their favorite part.
I agree though, there's probably going to be a group that don't like it, ones that love it...
and as usual..ones that 3-4 years down the line will start to like it

I can understand, for 2010, Ford wanting to maintain the overall same design philosophy that has made the S197 so popular. The spy shots suggest exactly what we've been hearing. It looks as though the creases are sharper, there's the ever-present hips; but the car isn't too much a deviation from what's currently out there.
Personally, I think the car is going to be a "more aggressive" version of the current S197, and I'm very excited to see what Ford's come up with. And there's new engines on the horizon...
I think this is a good thing. Keep it under wraps (literally); it keeps people interested. Over exposure would cause people to lose their excitement about its release....

But I'm drawn to this section like a bee to honey. Every day I'm here....will there be a decent spyshot? Decent titbits? I just know the day I don't check in will be the day the car is finally seen for the first time
Lol! I'm the same way. I was thinking about getting a '08 or '09 S197 (I really like the Bullitt), but am wondering if I should just wait for the 2011 (with the 5.0). I'm a big fan of the current design and hope they don't ugly up the '10+ S197 in the effort to give it a more "modern" look that some people seem to long for. Personally, I'm perfectly content with the retro theme.
I hear what you're saying, but in that case I should stay away from the 2010 section, 'cos the waiting is killin' me.

Since GM has nothing to sell today, they are letting Camaro photos show up everywhere in the hopes that customers will wait for the new Camaro instead of buying a Mustang today.
Since Ford has Mustangs to sell today, they don't want anybody to see the 2010, lest these customers decide to not buy a Mustang today and wait until the 2010 appears.
It's enough to make me wonder if Ford is planting some of the " The 2010 is going to suck" comments to goad people into buying 2008 or 2009 Mustangs now instead waiting.

Perhaps Ford made major changes to the rear because that is where the car received it's initial criticism. For the most part the automotive press praised the styling of the 05' car but most did say that the rear end did not have the same great styling cues as the profile and front end. I personally agree with them I think the rear needs to be less bulky looking, and change the tail lights (though i'm not liking the new ones either) Either way I think change is always good and wish this change was coming in 09' instead of 10' like originally planned
Mark Fields wouldn't had pushed back the Mustang re-fresh, from 09 up to 2010 to begin with.
We can also thank GM for resurrecting the Camaro. Otherwise the Mustang would only be getting a minor facelift, which was in the original plans for the 2009 re-fresh
